The above Bloomberg article mentions that IE will have a US release in December 15th.

Has anyone heard this elsewhere? News to me.

This would look good on your wall.

Theater with probably the worst parking lot in LA. They validate for 3 hours otherwise $10 a movie plus parking.  If you can find a space.  And itsy bitsy screens.

Oh well.

Never been to the Laemmle Sunset. The Royal is an OK single-screen theater, but not as nice as the revamped Nuart. The Santa Monica 4 is very poor. Thankfully, I was able to pick up a ticket for the Cinerama Dome showing at AFI Fest.

Wouldn't it be a nice full circle -- There's No Place Like Home -- for Inland Empire to find itself playing the Midnight Movie segment ad infinitum at the Nuart?

I made it through three hours of Cremaster 3 at the Nuart, because I knew it was the only chance I'd be able to see it. I'd see a Lynch film at midnight in a heartbeat. I got to see Mulholland Dr. at a midnight showing at the Nuart about a year and a half ago. Amazing experience.

Still no news of a UK release? Any idea who I need to call to find out what's going on?

Studio Canal?

Has he taken his eyes off it yet?

I don't actually think that either of the showings at AFI Fest are completely sold out, just that the advance tickets are sold out. Apparently, both showings are going to have what's called a Rush Line. A line will form approximately 1 hour before the showing, and seating will begin 5 minutes before the showing. It's cash-only, and seating isn't guaranteed, but if you're willing to camp out a bit, you may be able to get in.

Ofcourse movies like SW EP3 are broadcasted on the very time of the premier, but movies like IE... daaaamn, long way 2 go...

This isn't right... There's something wrong here...

just read in the sunday paper that david lynch is going to be in boston (actually cambridge) at the brattle theatre for a q & a after the screening of inland empire on dec. 3rd, immidiately went to the website and of course SOLD OUT. wicked dissapointed, was only 20 bucks too. the film is going to run dec 8-21 however, so at least it will be able to be seen around here.

Bleep you, & bleep the establishment, and bleep all of you who are trying to make me part of the unestablished establishment.

A bad quality shot of Justin Theroux, Laura Dern, David Lynch and the moderator after the NYFF 10/9 screening of IE.

The pic is probably no longer there because it was hotlinked. Go to an image hosting site like ImageShack or Photobucket, host it there, then we'll all be able to see it.

Has he taken his eyes off it yet?

Cool picture, Brian!  Anybody go to the AFI, but that's Pacific Time, so maybe it's not over.  I'm eager to hear about it!

Josh is there now with dugpa and a few other friends.  The movie started at 7:00 local time.  If all went according to schedule they are just about at the 1/3rd mark with two hours to go!

Will report back sometime tomorrow IF Josh has time to tell me anything about it.

That's a good review, and I remember the night we shot in his apartment. It was one of the earliest scenes. Can't wait to see this thing.... just like the rest of you!

Good, Brian!  Looking forward to it.  Only got the slightest commentary from Josh -- he needed to "mull it over."

INLAND EMPIRE at AFI Fest Mini Review by DugpaWell, last night I saw INLAND EMPIRE. While I could write a lengthy review, I think I'd rather keep it short and sweet. The look and feel, while it was filmed in DV, did work out quite nice. Those that were afraid that the film would look like the "Room to Dream" clip, no need to worry. There were moments that I was convinced that Lynch was using film. It looked THAT good. Others shots were not so great, but not horrible. I can see where Lynch finds his freedom in DV. Give it a few more years and I think he may be able to perfect it. The film was the most raw I have ever seen Lynch. The story reminded me a bit of Mulholland Drive, but it takes you places that Mulholland Drive couldn't. I did miss the music of Angelo Badalamenti, as I don't recall there being more than one piece by Angelo if that. While I really enjoyed the film, I think that this film is best suited for hardcore Lynch fans as mainstream audiences will probably not get it. Lynch is credited to most of the instrumental music on the film. Laura Dern was spot on. She reminded me a lot of a young Charlotte Stewart (Mary X of Eraserhead). Many of the themes were taken from sme of Lynch's material on David Lynch.com. All in all, I can't wait to see this film again. After the film was over, David Lynch, Laura Dern, and Justin Threoux did a Q&A session. Later, Lynch signed autographs and answered questions of the fans. One girl brought him a Cherry pie and a clean fork which Lynch seemed to enjoy. A question came up regarding the Deleted Scenes, which Lynch responded "I think we're working on it." ( I wonder who asked that question... :)
On the music, thre was only one Chrysta Bell song. It was the Polish Love Song (I think) as mentioned before. The Rabbits songs seemd to bethe same ones from the site but editied a bit. Lynch did a bunch of instrumental songs in which he got sole credit for. I didn;t catch most of the song names as the credits went by fast and I was busy watching the scene that was running through the credits which featured a certain Charlene. :)
That's about it. If anyone has any questions, let me know and I'll try to answer them.  -B

Oh Susan, when you see Josh, tell him Brian said "I figured it out". He'll know what it means. :)

They used the scene she was in as the end credits rolled. The scene was scored to Nina Simone’s “Sinner Man”. The scene was cut quite a bitand flashes back to the dancers and then to Laura Dern and Laura Harring. As a matter of fact, I think that was one of the best pieces of the film as it was a muchlighter and fun tone than the rest of the film.

Also, I noticed that John got credit for som eof the outdoor sound recording. I don't remember if there were any other credits.
