Yeh, that's true! Confirm me that this clip at the link I'm posting is the same you watched: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OQ0roaWROws The only thing that I don't get is those first notes from Nina Simone's Sinnerman put in there. I mean, I love that piece but is it included in the soundtrack?! And, by the way, is it confirmed that Badalamenti did not write and compose the music for the movie this time?!

Yes, many people have mentioned that "Sinnerman" is played over the ending credits of the film (which apparently has a scene going on beneath the credits). Also Badalamenti wrote a string piece for the film and that's it. Lynch did the music.... it's been confirmed everywhere I look. Edit: Has anyone heard about that December 29 wide release anywhere except Wikipedia?

Spirit Awards (formely Independent Spirit Awards): SPECIAL DISTINCTION AWARD
David Lynch, Laura Dern: In recognition of their unique and stunning collaborative work in the mesmerizing "Inland Empire" as well as the influential independent classics "Blue Velvet" and "Wild at Heart." http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/content_display/news/e3i7667731acf7f75deb1507fc12af8291c

Erwin, I think the answer is yes; Hollywood is full of chickens. And I think Fox News is plain rude. That's just sad.

While impugning FoxNews (knee jerk reactionarily), let's see what else ROGER FRIEDMAN of FoxNews had to say and if we all agree what a jerk he is because he WRITES a gossipy movie column for the FoxNews website. And then, if you really think ROGER FRIEDMAN is a jerk, why not direct the wrath toward the source of the HORRIBLE insult to Inland Empire -- ROGER FRIEDMAN? After all, there ARE plenty of critics who do not work for FoxNews who disliked Inland Empire.
Spirits Really Go Indie The 2007 Independent Spirit Awards should be pretty interesting this year. With one exception — "Little Miss Sunshine" — the audience will have heard of just about none of the nominees. Hurray! In the last few years, the Spirits came under fire for including too many movies that had been bought and distributed by major studios. The lines blurred between what was actually indie and what was big budget. All that is over this year. "Little Miss Sunshine" and "Half Nelson" both got five nominations yesterday, including Best Picture, but the difference between them is great. "Little Miss Sunshine" was sold at Sundance for $12 million and has two Oscar nominees in its cast (Toni Collette, Greg Kinnear) not to mention a huge comedy star (Steve Carell) and a beloved vet (Alan Arkin). It's made about $60 million at the box office. "Half Nelson" has made a fraction of that with a cast that includes two up-and-comers (Ryan Gosling and Anthony Mackie) and a total newcomer in Shareeka Epps. It deserves to win in all its categories, and Gosling should pick up Best Actor. There's an outside chance he'll get an Oscar nomination as well. His performance, which I wrote about here last January, is mesmerizing. More good news from the Spirits: "A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints," which First Look has all but abandoned, picked up three nominations. Conversely, First Look's "The Dead Girl," directed by Karen Moncrieff ("Blue Car") got two nominations for film and director. And Robert Altman, just about the original indie director, got a posthumous nomination. There were some serious omissions, though, like Maggie Gyllenhaal in "Sherrybaby" and "Saints" director Dito Montiel (the nomination for Steven Soderbergh for "Bubble" is beyond bizarre). The best award is definitely for David Lynch and his star Laura Dern. They're getting the "Special Distinction Award" for making "Inland Empire," one of the worst, most self-indulgent pieces of junk ever to be shown to an audience. Cool.
Scandalous those lame FoxNews writers, huh? Susan

It must be very, very fresh, but the official site http://www.inlandempirecinema.com has just been updated with content - although the trailer section is still empty !
The poster, available in large format, is quite awful... first time I might not get a poster of a DL movie, or just to complete my collection ! :)

I actually like the poster..I know its nothing special but I think it goes well with the film and I like the Black and White. Although, maybe they could have done more with it...maybe they will yet... I like the still that they have on the website. Not seen that before! Cant wait for the trailer.

From what I gathered from links Brian had on his site...the special distinction award will awknowledge their long time collaboration from Blue Velvet up through Inland Empire...but more importantly...Inland Empire is slated for a January release in Chicago. Hoo-f-ing-ray!!! Can't wait to check out this "unintelligible mess"...Personally, asking the regular movie going public to withstand 3 hours of pure, unadulterated Lynch is a lot to ask, but for the rest of us, bring it on, Mr. Lynch!!

Yeah! It's playing in DC in January as well.... I can't wait. BTW I think the poster is pretty cool, though not as good as the ones for most of his other movies...

Greg Olsen told me that I.E. will get it's Seattle debut at the Cinerama on Jan. 17. Dave will be in town the day before giving a TM lecture, so will be in attendance, as will (probably) Laura Dern...

It worries me that I've seen dates up until summer of '07, with nothing in Montreal.

I will be seeing the film at the LACMA screening. I didn't get into the screening at the Cinerama Dome last month.
