Home was awesome, Nefud. I never made it past Season 5 either.  The X-Files is good but it screams 90s TV show.

"Harry, I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Every day, once a day, give yourself a present. Don't plan it, don't wait for it, just let it happen. Could be a new shirt at the men's store, a catnap in your office chair, or two cups of good, hot, black coffee. Like this."  -Dale Cooper

I was naturally referring to the good episodes of the X-files, and the first and second seasons of Millennium.
And the Mike episodes of MST3k (and only the movie segments).

And Kim Manners died about 3 weeks ago.

Booth watches Chris Carter's house at night through binoculars.

do you not like the joel ones because of joel or do you not feel that the comedy is up to snuff? because i'll grant that mike's episodes are generally better-written, but i find joel to be a more interesting performer.

I only got to see the show when it was on Sci-Fi, and the only Joel episode I've seen is Mitchell.

i'm vigorously recommending gamera vs. guiron and pod people

there was a time that the host segments were fun, not weirdo plot crap (mitchell) or embarassingly bad (mike era)

If it's James Karen you're referring to I can inform you that he was also in Film, starring Buster Keaton and written by Samuel Beckett.

I've been thinking about giving him one more chance because the last time I read him it was like Twilight Zone the book*. Must have been a bad translation.

*bad twilight zone.

i'm gonna go ahead and say it. mel brooks has never ever made a really good solid movie.

So you don't think the original The Producers is a solid movie?  Dick Shawn's auditon for Hitler destroys me every time.  And the production number of Springtime for Hitler is classic.

QUOTE:if i had to choose just one it would be meaning of life, the idea of going for a "plot" is just not necessary. plus it has that great gilliam-y bit at the beginning

I agree that Meaning of Life is my favorite Python movie, but more often I rewatch Brazil, Fisher King, and 12 Monkeys.

it's got a couple good scenes but for what i remember the movie is like 90% gene wilder mugging and gurning for the camera

Fear and Loathing really is his best movie.
