Hey all,

I'm new here and I couldn't be more excited to take part of a message board dedicated to my favorite show of all time!!

I have a question pertaining to the Twin Peaks Fest.

Is it worth it? I mean, I live on the East Coast and I truly want to go out there more than anything. However, I am weary about saving up money if the fest isn't that great of a time.

I'd like to have a good time, celebrate Twin Peaks and meet some interesting peeps.

If this is possible, then I'm a happy camper! P.S. Where do most visitors stay?

The Twin Peaks Fest board should be up and running again soon. There were technical difficulties.

Most stay at the Edgewick Inn, but you can stay at the Roadhouse (very nice but only a few rooms,) the Mt. Si Inn (the FWWM motel, a real dump) or the Salish Lodge (Great Northern, where the celebs stay. It's pricey.) You are almost guaranteed an unforgettable time. There are other cheap local motels, too.

It's worth every penny and makes the Fest possible each year. No one profits- the organizers never break even- and the celebrity guests are only compensated with airfare and lodging. It's easy to bum rides, so that saves money. Sometimes guests opt to share rooms, too.

I've gone for 10 years now. Everyone who goes to one comes back if they can. Sometimes 2 or 3 times. If they can't, they want to.

Hey, previous Festgoers - how do your relatives/friends react when you tell them you are travelling across the country/globe to attend a festival for a show that has been off the air for almost 20 years?

The extensiveness of Booth's research (read previous posts from 14 years ago) is astounding.

Try telling them you run the damn thing. At that point, conversations get downright uncomfy...

I hope you run the Fest until you turn 97.

"Son, where are you going on vacation this year?"

*blushes* "I am going to book a flight across the country to attend a festival deep in the woods celebrating a show that ran for 29 episodes and was cancelled prematurely about 20 years ago.  What about you?"

The Twin Peaks fest is the greatest fan experience of all time.

Jared and Amanda are AMAZING at putting together one good show!  THey are truly gifted at this kind of wonderful celebration.  THe other leaders before them (kelly and Jordan) werre also terrific!

See....the Twin Peaks festival is for the fun and intimate gathering of fans and cast.  Here is a description.

People get in early and hang out the night before.  Drink...party...ect...ect...just a small group of 20 or so people.  What an amazing thing to hang out with a group at the DOUBLE R DINER!

Sign in on FRiday: a gathering of fans and friends in the Twin Peaks Town Hall.  Fun meetings, donuts, coffee, and contests!

Friday night:  We usually go to Movie night, and go out in Seattle.  LOTS of people show up for movie night.  FUN FUN FUN!  We usually get a video from Lynch himself, as well as rare video treats before the main feature. Then, groups of us usually go out in Seattle.  Some people go to hidden sites in Twin Peaks itself....however, on your first year...you won't get to do as much behind the scenes stuff unless you attend more than one year...then get to know more people and often get to know the area a bit more.

Saturday:

Tours, hang outs, and unofficial social events all day....but it remains VERY SIMPLE.  An intimate group feeling is ever present.  If you want a huge convention with a thousand screaming fans...then this isn't for you.  If you want to see Cast members who come because they love the world of peaks and the fans....and who just like to sit with fans and talk one on one....then this IS for you!  They don't even get paid...they just come because they care!

Dinner on Saturday night,  drinking, hanging out, talking the show out!  It is so awesome to be in the actual TOWN OF TWIN PEAKS!  A surreal treat!

Sunday, picnic, and unofficial social events.

All these things are simple and friendly...very much like a small club getting together to socialize and suck up the atmosphere of Peaks.  But to actually be IN the town itself......It is like LIVING in a sequel!  GO AND YOU WILL SEE WHAT I MEAN!

IT IS AWESOME.  JARED AND AMANDA..you guys do such an AWESOME job that it gets better EVERY YEAR!!!! I CAN'T WAITT!!!!!!!!AUGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!

6 Months left!

That sounds awesome, Hyde.

It stinks for us people that are far, far away.  This is one time where it would be advantageous to live in either Cali or Seattle.

There's no such thing as  being too far away.  The festival has had many visitors from Australia, Japan, all over Europe, South America and Africa.  If you're in the southernmost region of Madagascar, that might be too far but only because there may not be an international airport there.  Plan ahead and it's doable.  In fact, since it's only January, all you need to do now is resolve that you can put it together by July, put it on your calendar and then... just do it!

Hyde can tell you about his first trip across the country to the Pacific Northwest.  Where there's a will (and wheels) there's a way.

I always just say "I go to Washington for vacation every summer." and if people ask what I do there, I follow up with "I'm just spending the week visiting with old friends." :)

It's an experience that will scar you for life. Just look at my right shoulder. How much would I love to come back I can't even put it into words. So much to see, so little time.

If you're still not convinced, new in the neighborhood;

 The Snoqualmie Casino!

Just in case you need to lighten your wallet for the trip home.
