Looks like there's a new box comming, featuring the pilot, and both seasons of the series! Is this the "complete mystery" box, but with the titled changed? The box i currently set to be released in October 30th this year!

There´s a discussion about the cover at Dugpa´s board. http://dugpa.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=2054#2054 From FaceInTheLeaves "I quite like the picture but the logo's hideous and gold is the worst colour imaginable. I'd rather they did something simple and did it well. The problem with that cover is it does look like it was made by a fan with too much time on their hands. It doesn't look professional, or even tasteful for that matter.
Twin Peaks had such a distinctive look. The (original) logo's beautiful and I'd like to see it incorporated into the DVD packaging. As a rule I'm not bothered about packaging but I have no furniture that'll go with such a box. It'll make my house look cheap.
There's been too much talk about the special features and it's going to be impossible to live up to all the hype." From LeoFaraon: "That was well put, FaceintheLeaves. You nailed big time. I hope someone will read those comments and reconsider the artwork. GOLD has nothing to do with Twin Peaks. It´s just a cheap way Paramount has of saying "well, we´re making you buy it again, so we´ll deliver gold for you!! So you should be as happy as a puppy while we steal from you." And what´s the point of showing the logde floor patern if it´s not against the red curtains? They become a simple zig-zag pattern. It´s just random, nothing´s got to do with anything, the logo is cropped, it´s detestable. Most of us will end up buying it because of the Pilot and all, but it sure won´t be cheap, and I´ll be mad as hell if I have to buy an expensive set with such a cover. There´s a new LG plasma gold screen for the nouveau-riches of the world. Maybe they want us to buy that to match the coverart. Maybe they´ll offer us a small solid gold piece with it, like the FWWM French edition came with a film cell in it´s limited edition. That would make sense right? Maybe the third season that was never made was all about CooBob becoming rich by finding a gold mine in Ghostwood. He joins Ben and all of the residents become their slaves in the gold trade. CooBob becomes so rich he draws the lodge floor pattern with gold all over the town´s asphalt out of pure other dimensional self-indulgence.

I have to say that I really really really liked the artwork! I think the golden box looks very cool, and it will defenetly draw attencion to it while standing in the DVD-shelter The blak lodge floor on the way it's a cool detail if you ask me. I'm dying to get this box in my hands!

Ok then. Let´s face it. We should only buy it if it comes with "Gold Diggers: The Secret of Bear Mountain" as an extra. And make it HD please. So I can watch it on my LG Plasma Gold that I´ll buy with the gold stone they offer as a bonus. What would I do with an original film cell anyway? And don´t you mind about the pilot. Throw in The Gold Diggers (1952) and we´re all going to be in heaven. (http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0044668/). And guess what heaven will be made of? http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0113188/ http://www.hexus.net/content/item.php?item=4964 How about that TV set to match the Gold edition sitting on your shelf, Joakim!?

Haha, now that is a TV I want! Twin Peaks in HD would be like a wet dream, 'til BOB shows up. Then it would be more like a wet nightmare... I allready have a LG 42" LCD-screen, but yet no Blu-Ray or HD-DVD-player, but if Twin Peaks would be released in any of that format, I would buy one instantly!

Especially if it comes with "Gold Digger of Weepah" as a bonus right? Instead of a new Madchen Amick interview reading the phone book (with questions asked by Sherilyn Fenn). Afterall, what´s that got to do with gold? http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0017941/

How about this idea for a novelty DVD case?

We take the whole coffin setup, add a little toy Leland on the lid, lower the casket slightly so that Leland is the only thing that is visible from the side. Leland works as a handle and you pull him upwards and the coffin follows. Underneath the lid there are lattices on both sides (right/left) and slots in the middle where the DVDs go. There a little latch on the lid and if you open it there's a booklet inside.

How about a "Dismembered Laura Kit" box art, in line with Lynch´s "Fish Kit" and "Chicken Kit" as well as Boxing Helena, of course. I don´t know where the DVDs would go though.

According to Dugpa, I have been told that Lynch agreed to do Deleted Scenes for this release but that CBS/Paramount, like New Line did not want to pay for the transfer costs that Lynch has requested to have the Deleted Scenes to the TV Series mastered properly.
I know a lot of people won't like that I am saying this, but I will say it anyway. It really goads me that Lynch keeps "offering" to remaster scenes for Peaks but in doing so dooms them to never being seen again because of the high costs his remastering entails. I would rather see these scenes in less-than-perfect form than NEVER because Lynch has to have control over them.

Yeah. It's like offering a toddler his favorite kind of cookie and then telling him he can't have it because it's not the perfect shape or something.

They might as well release this in HD DVD or BluRay. They'll probably never get a chance again.

Translation: We think we can get the people who already have VHS copies recorded off the air, the first season on VHS, the complete 29 episode VHS pack, the pilot on VHS, FWWM on VHS and DVD, the first season on DVD, and the second season on DVD to pay for the "Definitive Gold Edition" before we have to worry about selling a new version with deleted scenes or one in HD-DVD or BluRay.

You can just suck and suck and suck money out of us all day long, and Paramount's bank account will never get any smaller.

If that ends up being the real cover, some needs to be fired. Or maybe set on fire.

I have actual love for this thread. The mix of cynicism and rebellion has made me proud to be a Twin Peaks fan. Now I have all the episodes on DVD I'm prepared to live without the complete mystery or whatever they're calling it now unless they rethink the crappy, cheap looking cover art and give us some decent special features. If they don't think Twin Peaks is profitable why don't they just sell the rights on to a company that knows what it's doing? If a bit of care was taken over special features, packaging and promotion it could be huge. I honestly don't think Paramount is capable of doing Twin Peaks justice on DVD. I gave them the benefit of the doubt over season two but this gold abomination has pushed me too far. It's so horrible words fail me. It can't be fan-made because Twin Peaks fans have too much taste to unleash that on an unsuspecting world.

There would have to be AT LEAST an hour of deleted scenes to get me to buy this. A truly horrible cover too.

Accordning to Dugpa, there will be some more intervjues that wasn't on the last season 2-box. I'm seriosly hoping that they will put in more extras then just that and the remasterd pilot. I mean, it's called The Definitive Edition, so they have to do pretty much to live up to the name...

Yeah the cover sucks, but I'm not buying it to stare at the cover for hours on end. To be honest I store all my DVDs in folders due to lack of space, so what the cover looks like doesn't bother me, as long as the content of the discs is good enough.
My theory by A. Elk, brackets, Miss, brackets. This theory goes as follows and begins now. All brontosauruses are thin at one end, much much thicker in the middle, and then thin again at the far end. That is my theory, it is mine, and it belongs to me, and I own it, and what it is, too. Ange's Odyssey
