Yea, since you mentioned the giant it crossed my mind that nobody, as far as I know, hasn't discussed Michael Anderson's play  Yea, he's kinda backwards but.. still, the way he moves or stands or just his stare... i don't know it seems very neat. what do u think about that ? think he did a great job even though his role was very wierd. Come to think of it, he is the most wierd think in TP... to me. this character is just the top of Lynch's psych vision.

The more times I watch the show, the less these characters amuse me. Sometimes it becomes painful,      but overall,                       I don't hate them.  Sometimes these characters can be the funniest and highly entertaining of all,

and favorite characters start to irritate.

The irritators on these lists, made my lists, mostly because of repeat offenses of horrible irritation.

I can only think of 4:

1. Hank Jennings (aggressive, devious and messes Norma around)

2. Leo Johnson (horrible to Shelly)

3. FBI Agent Roger Hardy (ungrateful and fails to appreciate genius of Cooper)

4. Mounty King (tries to destroy Cooper and running-boy for Jean Renault)

All the other chars were great and I love, love, love 'em!

But these characters aren't meant to be likeable. The reason someone like James is so annoying is that you are MEANT to like him, with his puppydog eyes and chipmunk voice.

pain in the ass.

This isn't right... There's something wrong here...

But Leo Johnson is a terrible person, he is totally immoral and he makes Shelly's life awful for her. That's really annoying behaviour. He's not really cool. He's quite boring. Bobby Briggs is cool because he has a rhythm in the way he walks and moves, even when walking backwards. Leo Johnson just punches, kicks and chops his way through life. He lacks style, sophistication, intelligence. He is just like SO annoying!

Roger Hardy is a crashing bore, a bureaucrat who complains if people don't do everything by the book. He totally overlooks the fact that Cooper actually solved the murder. He just moans that Coop crossed the border into Canada. So what?

Of course, it's a matter of opinion. It's subjective. The different people who post on this site will come up with a different list of about 5 people.

All I'm saying is that in my opinion, I found Leo to be an irritating character. He didn't add much in the way of magic or excitement to the programme. I think he was a failure as a human being. He could have chosen to be nice to Shelly and appreciate her, but he didn't do that. My sympathies are with Shelly. She is an OK kind of gal, and I don't blame her for shooting Leo that time.

I find it difficult to like a character who is violent towards his own wife. For me, this is immoral and irritating behaviour. But that's just my opinion. Everyone who posts here will see things differently.

There were many ideas and storylines in the first season. I think Leo is a kind of red herring. You are led to believe that he might well be the killer, but of course, in the end, it is someone completely different.

when i'd first viewed TP,i did find audrey irritating.however,when i'd watch the series a couple more times,i began to appreciate this very central character.she also was very funny.

i can't say that i now find any character annoying,as they ALL add immeasurably to the series as a whole.each character is integral to it.

regarding'little nikki':when the imp spun andy's stool at the diner,causing andy to fall off when he'd sat upon it,i laughed hysterically.honestly,that was funny as hell.

i did find josie's cloying helplessness annoying originally,but as i'd mentioned above,i began to understand that each character imparted important contributions to TP,even if they had annoying behaviors/habits.

Mike (weak acting, didn't "fit" Twin Peaks.  For me he just stood out like a sore thumb, rather than blend into the mix of the show)

James (underacted a tad imho - needed to flesh out the character more.  Was a bit soft for my liking, but I guess that was part of his character.)

Josie (cute to look at, but again a little wooden.  I excused this as being a cultural thing with less emotion shown.)

Jacque (SP?) (just didn't like the character.  The fact he got a reaction means he did his job well I guess...)

That's about it...can't get 5.

Other villains were great - Ben, Leo, Leiland etc - interesting characters and well acted.

All just mHo!

 Grr tell me about Dick Tremayne, wanted to throttle the posh twat everytime he came on screen, cheered when the pine weasel bit his nose!

With Nadine, I just didnt like the whole 'I'm 17 again storyline'

Hank was a slippery shit, didnt like him, only time I liked him was when he got knocked out by Nadine

Hank was one of the coolests, much more than Leo in my opinion. I always had a heart for the bad ones.

Btw, sorry deputy Andy fans, I know he's supposed to be the dork/funny type of guy on purpose, but I just don't buy him at all. Also in my list, the mayor, Little Nicky and that couple of dorks that came to handle Leland's trial, the judge and his wife. Don't know why, I just don't like them.

Obviously Evelyn. Diane Keaton must have had a crush on her because her episode kept on focusing on her over and over again with soft focus and overlays. Actually, the Keaton episode was the worst of the bunch.

After Evelyn, it would have to be Harold Smith. The character was OK but the actor was horribly miscast.

I can't complain about Nicky - he was is in so few scenes. 

I can see where Andy and Lucy would get irritating in episode 9 of the second season. There's some very bizarre cutting between Leyland's story and Lucy's. Finally the two stories are linked when Dick lights his cigarette and causes the sprinklers to go off. I didn't care much for the editing there - maybe another viewing would make it more palatible.

For me, these characters rendered the show virtually unwatchable.
