Friends, 1995 was when I started to dabble around with HTML. One of the first sites I did was Twin Peaks related and it was called Laura's Diary, and it was hosted at Geocities (Hollywood/Lot/7675 if memory serves me right - if you don't understand that, then you are too young - LOL). I had a couple of other sites including an X-Files and a Millennium site, and Kelly and I did a movie review site.
Not long after making Laura's Diary, I found a message board and the website started getting a lot more attention and traffic.
In 1999, we upgraded the site out of Geocities and into our own hosting environment and another message board - combining our sites into one domain - 2000revue.com. It was soon after that I wanted to do something different with Laura's Diary and attempted to create a more interactive site with a mixture of real and fictitious stories regarding Twin Peaks. The project never took off but out of that we renamed the site to Twin Peaks Gazette. Meanwhile, the message board grew and grew.
Over the years, we grew quite large - I would say even the largest TP/DL board out there (granted not large in the scheme of things), but along with that growth came a lot of garmonbozia that still stings today. The site was busy, the site was exciting, and we experienced tremendous growing pains. About that same time period Kelly and I had the opportunity to take on the TP Festival, along with Amanda and Jared, which was a really cool thing (thank you, Susan, for thinking of us)!
About 4 years ago, we started noticing a noticeable dropoff in conversation around the board. Often times the posts were similar to what we saw 10 years ago and many of the long-timers were running on fumes discussing the same thing. The drama of some members was getting old and people started falling off. At the same time, Facebook started really taking off and as Facebook started to take off, I personally noticed a drop off here. Along with that, David Lynch hasn't really done much which hasn't helped. The release of TP on DVD, I thought, would've helped increase new members but did not in the end.
Personally, my own time started dwindling from the site as I became more involved with work, family and other new avenues of my life. For Kelly it was very much the same. Over the last couple of years, we've sorta just let the board run itself as Kelly and I have spent more time getting involved in Kelly's organization, Birthday Blessings, and in church.
At some point you have to read the writing on the wall and learn that all good things have a season and must come to an end. Kelly and I have been talking and have agreed that we will be closing up the board and TPG for good on January 1, 2012. Neither of us have the personal time to give the board anymore and it's unfair to current and new members.
We'd like to thank everyone for your support through the years. Many of you went through those growing pains I mentioned previously and dealt with a lot of crap. Many of those that were here at the time are no longer here or only show up once in awhile. For those of you who have been with us for many years, I would like to offer huge thank you! You were instrumental in helping to create a solid community of fans.
We'd like to also thank a couple of other folks who have been with us for many years and have been absolutely essential in helping to run the board as moderators:
Geofr111 (Geofrey) - haven't seen Geoff in a LONG time but it was always nice having him around. To Geoff - wherever you are - good luck!
Kahlanmnel (Amanda) - not sure how long Amanda has been with us but we know it's been awhile. She helped maneuver through the growing pains with us and was absolutely essential in helping us with the board and also helping to take on the Festival.
Rebel (Jeri) - wow, I think Jeri has been with us since day 1 if memory serves me right - way back in Geocities days. A huge THANK YOU for all your hard work and your commitment over the years.
So what's the next steps?
We really haven't decided yet. We wanted to give everyone notice so that you were aware of our decision. We wanted to give people plenty of time to grab stuff off the board (if you can find it) and to find new and different avenues for TP Discussion and community. There are a couple of other good boards out there, including Brian Kursar's over at www.dugpa.com.
If someone would like to pick up the torch for the board, we'd be more than happy to assist you in your new endeavor. Just let me know and we can talk.
With regards to the TPG website itself, I really hate to allow the content to just disappear - some of us (particularly Smokechezpig) put a lot of time in for that content. My current idea is simply to archive the best content and make it still accessible via www.twinpeaksgazette.com (similar to twinpeaks.org). Amanda has graciously offered to assist in this conversion.
I think that covers pretty much everything. Please understand this is not an overnight decision - but one that I've been playing around with for several months privately, and then Kelly and I in the past few weeks. We mentioned this to Amanda and Jeri a couple of weeks ago and it's taken me that time to get to the point of actually publicly posting this.
If you have any questions, feel free to reply to the topic.
It's been fun getting to know everyone over the last few years, and rest assure, we'll be around somewhere in the cloud....
Jordan .

Completely understand your reasoning & decision. Thanks for being a gracious bunch of hosts. Folks are welcome to check in at www.twinpeaksfest.com, where much of the same ground is trod (though there is a concentration on the fest). Stay in touch, be well, & see you in the trees...

A thread like this just isn't the same without a post from Susan saying "So it goes".
Best of luck to everyone with champagne wishes and caviar dreams.

Totally understand about your decision, feel a tinge of sadness as theres some great peeps on here. All of you deserve so much kudos for all your hard work and dedication. Just a shame I havent managed to make it to the fest, would have loved to have met you guys and thanked you for your dedication. I havent been around for a few reasons: 1) Me and my lass from the States split up a 5 months ago and I havent been online very much in last 6 months. Knocked the stuffing outta me as I loved her, first gal Ive ever felt so strongly for, but it was for the best 2) Had to replace my laptop and lost all my links to sites 3) Been insanely busy working on a study (not for any course, but for myself), about the JFK assassination. Been fascinated by it for years and have spent 10 years and nearly £2,000 of my own cash researching it (£3000 if you count 2 trips to Dealey Plaza) Anyway I digress, get back to the topic Andy (lol). Although i havent been around I will miss you all. Not just the folks I was in contact with on occasion (REBEL, 12rainbow, Amanda, Jordan & Kelly) every one of ya!

If anyone wants to stalk me, I'm on Facebook. :) http://www.facebook.com/amanda.hicks I will miss everyone! And I still hold out hope that Booth will find his way to the Festival so I can finally shake hands with the man behind the curtain. He will always hold a special place in my tiny blackened heart.

I'd suggest putting a link to this thread at the top of the TP and DL forums. Just so that the people who don't visit the off-topic section will read it.

Thanks to everyone who provided some scintillating conversations, not to mention all the laughs! (And Booth, you know I'll miss those Guess the Movie threads...and remember when you, Logichat and I indexed all those movie reviews? Ah, impermanence...) Good luck and happy trails!

Since the database crossover, it says the earliest members are from 2005, but i remember people on here from way back before that. I remember posting on here when i was a teenager! Although not exactly a member of the old-school, i've met plenty of awesome people on here, and it'd be awesome if there would be a way to stay in touch somehow. Especially seeing as a few of us have started a TP Fest fund and (although i did say it last year) we 100% intend to get our asses over there for it and meet some of you guys. I just have a wedding to save up for too right now! Anyway, i digress. But you get what i'm saying. :)

Woo hoo! And here's where those indexes to all the movie reviews written by members over the years begin: http://www.2000revue.com/community/topic.cfm?topicid=1552&page=57

Guy's fully understand where you all are coming from. It must take a lot of time to keep the board fresh and people interested. As you say, everything has a sell by date, and I guess the Gazette has reached this. I don't get here as often as I used to, but having been "around" from the early days, I just want to thank Jordan and Kelly for all their hard work over the years. Also, the Moderators too, without whom, I believe we would have had quite a few nutters on here, well more that we have!!!!!!! Anyway thank you for putting a bit of colour in our lives over the years. There are a lot of good people here, and I would like to wish you all the best in whatever you all do in the future.

Sad news, but as someone already said understandable... I've loved this place since my first day, back in 2002, when my english was pretty bad (actually here's where I learned)... I loved the Create-A-Caption madness (and I keep almost all of those works of art, which make me remember the good days), the good ol' and lengthy discussions with Geoff, smokey, Jordan and of course my alter ego/nemesis Mr. BOB1... The Gazette closes and we still haven't decided if Annie marries Coop? Oh what a wonderful world! I loved creating my Character and Did You Notice threads which I will keep and maybe post somewhere else in the future to remember... Dugpa.com sounds like a great place, I've never been a member there but I've read some of the threads with interest and visit from time to time... I'll definitely register there and other Peaks places... Right now my interests lie somewhere else, I'm a member of a couple of spanish message boards and that's one of the reasons why I visit less often now... Besides, I'm not in the mood to discuss about TP, I feel like everything has been said...at least I've written here everything I have to say about TP all these years... BOB1 and I talked about coming back to the old discussions, to the Gazette of many years ago, but although we tried and recently reappeared around here that didn't last very long... I feel too that my buddy doesn't really have anything new to say about TP... It's been a wonderful ride and I thank everyone, but especially Jordan & Kelly for making this possible... As I said I'll visit other Lynch and TP related boards so you'll see me there for sure... Gracias Gazette!!

Yes Booth, that would be "amoozing".
I checked a ramdom large thread from 2006 on the political forum: 24 responses in one day ! and a random larger Twin Peaks thread with 20 responses in one day . That was a happening time, oh yes.

Pretty sure Scott (Cherry Bomb) is NOT a Gazette dweller. You can see him in the Fest doc on the Gold Box. He's the one talking about "the mystery of the egg".
