I always got moved by Principal Wallcheck's speech to the school.  I am abit of a sap though ....

Also when Donna realises Laura is dead when her teacher says 'there'll be an annocement from the principal'

The whole pilot is pretty moving in my eyes.

I mean it like it is .... like it sounds ...

I actually thought the pilot was pretty funny, all that melodrama. Same with Leland on the coffin, I wasn't spoiled but I could tell that was a not subtle joke.

Another bit where I cried was after they found dead Rusty.

'HEAVY METAL ROADIE

Rusty hated his parents. He’s staying with his uncle in Moses Lake. Until we were - we were gonna ... move. We were gonna move to LA.

ANDY begins to cry. Caught up in his emotions, the HEAVY METAL ROADIE begins to cry also.'

Not as much as some scenes but still got a little choked up.

And I'll see you
And you'll see me
And I'll see you in the branches that blow
In the breeze,
I'll see you in the trees
Under the sycamore trees

Funny ?  I am not seeing this .....

The only funny scene would be Bobby surfing on Mike's car surely ....

The "I looooove you,James" scene in FWWM always makes me cry!

Man,it's so sad...Laura was so desperate in that scene, realising that she was going to die and that was the last time she sees James :( I feel so sorry for her in that moment.

Sorry. I guess I have a really sadistic sense of humour when it comes to melodrama. Not that I didn't love the pilot, of course.

From the pilot:

When Donna looks at James in the classroom, then see's the empty desk, and realizes that Laura is dead, and she then starts to cry.

This scene always gets me.

I would rather stand and die than have to live and kneel.

episode 1.  Doc is sadly telling Cooper about the autopsy and then takes pause, looking at the picture of his daughter's friend's corpse.

Hi - had to ressurect this thread. I've recently been re-watching my ancient videos of Season 2. Something made me so sad which had not really affected me before. SPOILERS here for those not familiar with the second season

The last episode, when Harry is waiting for Coop to come out of the BL. In the morning, the strange slow conversation he has with Andy, when Andy is asking him if he'd like food and coffee, and Harry just replies "yeah" to everything.

I found my eyes welling up in that scene - just the thought that Harry never sees Coop again, after all they've been through together, coupled with Andy doing what he does best - being helpful and considerate, while demonstrating how strong he has become by not breaking down and crying. Totally heartbreaking.

Has he taken his eyes off it yet?

Wow, that's a new perspective for me.

This scene, well yes it affected me all right, but in quite a different way: I always found it amusing. The kind of absurd humour Lynch is really good at.

But what you're saying, hmm... it's true that Truman is waiting for him there like a real friend... but he'll never properly see him again. It is sad, at least the idea behind it. I think the way it has been made pushes the scene towards comedy - but it's not criticism on my side. Thanks to the funny side, there is distance in this scene and it's not as terribly heavy as it might have been... actually for me it's not at all ;-)

Absolutely, BOB1 - in fact, I can actually remember watching the scene with my family when it was originally aired, and we all laughed at that bit!

It's one of those things where hindsight gives you a totally new perspective on the scene....

Has he taken his eyes off it yet?

I found that scene heartbreaking as well...right up until Andy says, "Do you want pie?" I snorted with laughter for a sec there until it got serious again--especially when Harry doesn't answer the pie question and Andy keeps calling to him. Then when it cuts back to Harry staring into the trees/space where Coop disappeared, seemingly trying to reach out and grab him from whatever darkness has claimed him--that's just creepy right there. Nice.

That's a really interesting way to look at that scene, ThisistheGirl. And WOW, BOB1, WOW...you're absolutely right. Harry doesn't see him again properly. Sad. :(

When in the right mood, a few scenes bring tears to my eyes over and over.

- when Donna starts crying in the classroom, and James breaks the pencil, and the principal gives the announcement...

- when Nadine attempts suicide

- when Harold Smith is found dead

- the sight of a crying Donna (espescially) and a worried Bobby at the Roadhouse at the time Maddy is being killed, and when Mr Senior Droolcup walks over to Coop to say he's so sorry

- and one more for Shelly Johnson, when telling Norma that she'll have to quit her job because of Leo. Her acting is just too good. No wonder Gordon Cole called her his angel...

May have forgotten about one or two scenes, but none I can remember from FWWM.

I am touched (not driven to tears) by the dialogue between norma and big ed at the gas station, when they kinda call it quits in season 1.

Lets see,

I agree with many that Coops "enter the light" scene as Leland dies; very sad indeed but then beautiful when he see's Laura waiting for him.

The Road House Scene prior to Maddy's death. The music, the tears, the knowledge that something terrible is about to happen and the harsh inability to stop it.

Donna and James at The Roadhouse, when 'Rockin Back Inside My Heart' plays for the first time and Donna breaks down in tears.

Also I find it really sad, when Audrey is in the secret hiding place in the wall, watching Ben and Catherine getting up to no good.  Even though she giggles at it, there is a look on her face of sadness that she has caught her Father cheating.

But most of all, as some of you have said already, when Nadine takes the pills. She seems so simple, childlike and oblivious, but really she knows whats going on.  The fact that she wears her best pink dress to kill herself in. Bless!

The Road House Scene prior to Maddy's death.

Also the Principals announcement nearly got me going, interesting take on that scene with Laura/Leland/Mike in FWWM

I've never cried during TV or a movie but TP has got me pretty close, especially Maddy's death and when Donna and Sarah realise Laura's dead.

In the scene where Donna realises it's really hard to read Audrey's facial expression. She almost looks like she's smirking.

I've never actually cried, but those scenes with James and Evelyn Marsh make me want to cry. With frustration.

The question is, Where have you gone?

Twin Peaks has never made me cry, or any TV show for that matter, but it does have emotionally moving scenes in just about every episode.

"Harry, I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Every day, once a day, give yourself a present. Don't plan it, don't wait for it, just let it happen. Could be a new shirt at the men's store, a catnap in your office chair, or two cups of good, hot, black coffee. Like this."  -Dale Cooper

The scene in which Ben is watching some old video of him and Jerry fooling around in front of the camera when their father is inaugurating the building of the Great Northern. This accompanied with Angelo Badalamentis score gets me a bit teary eyed.

Also, the scene at the road house where Bobby is sitting at the bar looking around with a sad expression on his face and Donna and James sitting at a table when Donna is crying. Great scene. Spooky and sad.

The end of Fire Walk With Me with the angel.  Also in Fire Walk With Me when the guys at the bar want to sleep with Laura.  I don't cry, but that scene is very sad every time I watch it. There are some scenes that make me teary eyed like the bar scene when Donna is looking at James and Julee is singing the Rockin Back Inside My Heart.

Leland's grief scenes are the ones that make me cry. Especially when he asked the people to dance with him in the Great Northern and nobody wants to dance, than he began to cry on the background of Laura Palmer's theme. Audrey's Horne cry make the sad feelings more stronger and in the final Leland hold on agent Cooper's and Hawk's arms and his absolutely defenslessness... I think now I understand Lych's idea to turn attention to Leland's greaf and put Sarah's one in the background.. That's because the killer possesed exactly Leland! And that makes the situation absolutely tragic. I learned tha David said to Ray Wise: " It was you. From day one." I didn't understand is this day one is about the pilot or day one of the second season?

Faster and faster. For a long time you wouldn't feel anything. Than you would burst in the fair... forever. And the angels wouldn't help you. Because they've all gone away...
