that's why i was saying he needs to contact mark frost-- honestly, at this stage of the game, if i were a network exec bringing back twin peaks and i could only afford lynch or frost, and both were willing i'd go frost. partially because i don't want each episode to have a gi joe-style public service announcement about meditation at the end.

Actually, I don't want more Peaks either way... I don't care if Lynch is involved, or Frost, or MacLachlan or all three together... To me TP began and ended beautifully and if anything is done right now I'll care about it the same I cared about the last Indy film: a big NOTHING. I'd rather see a brand new Lynch & Frost TV series...

MacLachlan should call the actress who played Eolani Jacoby, the last time a "project" like this came up (was it "A Thousand Angels" or something?) she was interested... And I'm serious here... Really, I am...

Guys, any show or webisode or whatever that is done now won't be like TP at all, it'll be a mess...

Gordon, I agree with you. Booth, that was scarily on-point.

Ok, let's say Kyle is the auteur of this. I think he would be able to judge the passability of the tone and writing style as well as us impossible-to-please nerds.

And though faithful recreation of the town set would be near impossible, unless a moment of two was filmed on location in WA, I think exploring what is happening in the Black Lodge 25 years later would be feasible.

Based on David's returns to Twin Peaks post-FWWM; his two video messages to the Fest (the one on the Gold Box and the one about getting Cooper out of the Lodge), plus the DL.COM hidden video of the Red Room with Laura's theme over it, I think this is where David would go, too.

The webisodes could be very abstract, dark shorts in that vein.

DL might even participate as a guest director, with encouragement.

Sadly, Don Davis is no longer with us and I know he would volunteer to rescue Cooper, as was discussed by the creators. But other former stars might be willing to make cameos in Lodge scenes.

as someone who missed all three of these, is there a place i can view them? i mean, i own the gold box but i think i missed that one. if there isn't a place to view them, could you give a bit more detail? getting cooper out of the lodge?

I describe the DL.COM video in an old thread.

QUOTE:

The thing on DL.com is a shot of Laura right before she sees the angel in FWWM, that slowly tightens to the tune of Laura's Theme. The captions say, "What does she see?" and "What does she hear?"

The Fest message on the Gold Box was the only dramatic interpretation (the backwards one with the doll on the last disc, Nefud.) Generally those greetings are just David saying 'hi, enjoy the trees' In one, he asked that we try to figure out how to get Cooper out of the Black Lodge.

No, I don't think they are on YouTube or anything.

Black Lodge scenes would be easy to simulate without it coming off as a joke, don't you think, Gordon? Maybe Kyle could hire someone to design a plant of corn (j/k)

18 years later Dale Cooper is no longer with the FBI. He is instead running a small business repairing fans, Dale Cooper's Fan Service. He has developed a facial tic that makes him look like he's winking and smiling knowingly.
He spends most of his time eating pie and drinking coffee and speaking into his dictaphone.

I think that was on the Mystery Disk of the Lime Green Set, not the Special Features disc of the Gold Box set.

As far as the continuation idea... Sure. Why the hell not? If it's on the web, there's no ratings or B.O. they have to be concerned with making. Releasing them bundled on a DVD later ala Dr. Horrible would make a decent chunk of change.

And if it's "not the same" or even downright terrible-- So what? Indy 4 and the d2d Futurama movies (or even FWWM, if you're of that opinion) didn't retroactively make the originals bad.

Worse case scenario, it all goes wrong, we at least have new stuff to bitch about, thus ensuring the prolonged life of the TP fan community. And there will be Photoshops. Oh yes, there will be Photoshops.

I'm intruiged by this idea of 5 minute webisodes.  I feel like MacLachlan may just be low balling any interested parties into coming onboard.  5 minute webisodes is about the least amount of commitment anyone could agree to on a TV project.  I think he's trying to get people talking about it again (Lynch, Frost, the cast) and once they are somewhat united, with some ideas and commitments from actors, they could figure out how to get everyone back to Twin Peaks.

David Lynch is known for his web based projects, and at least online he could be sure of no network interference.  But I think MacLachlan is hoping for a full return to TV land here.  And I bet there is at least one powerful network exec out there now who remembers Twin Peaks fondly... I can imagine Twin Peaks on HBO or Showtime, or even on AMC or FX.

Kyle MacLachlan is Norma Desmond.

D'oh! You are right, Logichat! It was a Lime Green extra, of course.

Now that some time has passed, I seriously doubt the seriousness of the statement, if it wasn't entirely fabricated. And most crazy ideas never see the light of day.

Imagine if it was hosted by DL.com though. That would make up for the decade+ of nothing that website has been!

Transformer movie?  Is that about Chastity Bono?

Ben:  "We've laid in a gala reception for your fair-haired boys tonight.  All of Twin Peaks' best and brightest."

Jerry: "We're holding it in a phone booth?"
