| QUOTE:It's entirely possible that the postcard sets are almost completely sold out, as CBS/Paramount only included card sets in the first 60,000 box sets produced. It's fantastic that they've managed to move more than that many sets, but it stinks for the real fans who would actually appreciate the cards. |
But on a more positive note the people who bought the Gold box and aren't bothered about the postcards can sell them and send their children to college with the proceeds!
Does the 60,000 sets include non-US Gold boxes? I know the postcard checklist specifies there's only a certain number of the limited cards available worldwide but it's non-committal about standard cards.

...hmm. After harrasing staff at many department stores today I was told the R4 release DOES COME WITH THE CARDS! [Australian release two days away. So embarrasing.] However I would have told me the same thing just to get me to come back and purchase one.

The postcards may be rare soon, but I think I'll never care about selling them. Most likely I'll end up mailing them to friends with weird and silly notes refering to card, or not at all. That seems like a fun idea and possibly what may have been intended.

I think that's a lovely idea. I wish I could do that too but alas I must horde mine for all time. Their value doesn't bother me because I'll never sell them but I doubt my friends would appreciate them anyway... ungrateful, ignorant beasts!

I'd thought of doing that with my extras. :) Just randomly mail out the postcards to various Twin Peaks fans...mostly just to see how freaked out people get by the fact that I've sent these postcards through the post. I imagine a lot of angry e-mails and phone calls in return. :P

It only leads to heartache! Stop waiting for Muhammad to come to the mountain and treat yourself to a multiregion DVD player. You can buy them for peanuts. David Lynch is the reason I bought a DVD player, and a multiregion one at that. God knows what's going on with the distribution rights in the UK. |
That is the most stupid comment I have ever read or heard in my life. It annoys me, hurts and frankly is unacceptable. So what, because not EVERY David Lynch or Peaks fan ha such a superficial attitude as you do (thank GODS or I would never be here!) or has money coming out of their ass to buy multi-region DVD players, (which by the way, I already HAVE a multi-region DVD player and I wouldn't consider that I bought it for "peanuts" I had to save up for several months to buy it when I was still able to work) or in some cases even DVD's (I have some friends who are also fans and don't even the means to buy a DVD player they have the series on video) it makes them LESS of a Peaks fan than you? Fandom is not about owning the most or having the most up-to-date *bits and bobs*. It is a nice additon, yes, but true fandom is simply, as Lynch himself has said many times about APPRECIATING the artwork, movie, piece of televison or cinema, enjoying it, taking what you will from it and leaving it at that. What fandom is not is trying to belittle another person who loves or is a fan of the show simply because they complain about the fact the DVD hasn't yet reached the U.K yet. If I, or anyone else in the U.K choose to do so, or if they choose to buy another version from another country (which I would rather NOT do because I cannot afford to do so, so I rather WOULD wait for "mohammed to come to the mountain" as you put it, because I know, soon enough it will, as did series one even though it took forever, I got there in the end. I am not the type of fan who rushes right out the second something is released unless I know its here and/or cannot AFFORD to do so and the fact you seem to think I have money to throw around like "peanuts" especially at this time of year angers me. I don't like leaving personal/credit card details over the internet which is my choice and MY perogative and what I think is common sense on my part, (especially considering what happened here in the UK lately with 26 million people having their details stolen with the child benefit thing and identity theft being more rife than ever here) and so don't intend to as well as the fact I shouldn't have to justify what I do and don't do with my money to complete stranger. *goes off to calm down*

Never mind going off to calm down, you should be sectioned under the Mental Health Act! It was tongue in cheek. It was supposed to be supportive and even helpful in an 'I know your pain' kind of way. I had nothing but good intentions when I wrote that post and am genuinely shocked by the tone of your reply. I'm not going to read the entire post because you've jumped the shark in a most spectacular fashion and I'm mortified on your behalf. It's also slightly creepy. It's not about being a bigger fan than you and I'm sorry you feel that way. I'm not that kind of person, at all. It's a weird mentality for me to even get my head around. Hell, I'd buy you a multiregion DVD player myself... Anything to spare me having to wade through endless passive-aggressive posts from people whining about non-existent DVD releases. I bought a DVD player for my Nana a few years ago. It cost thirty quid from Tesco and it happened (by chance) to be multiregion. In 1992 I was fifteen and had to save up just to buy the videos. It took me almost a year to collect the set. When I bought my first DVD player I didn't have much money and had to make sacrifices. Unless you're using the internet on a council owned computer at Job Club (or in prison) you're hardly on the breadline and are talking absolute bollocks. Nobody has ever handed me anything on a plate and I'm very matter of fact about material possessions. If I can't afford them I can't have them and I'm not going to waste time whining about things I don't have. There are sites I refuse to visit because I can't be arsed with that 'I'm a bigger fan than you because I own...' mentality. Having said that, if you can't afford to buy a multiregion DVD player for £25-30 it's unlikely you'd be able to afford the no-doubt larcenous amount of money they'd charge for a UK R2 DVD box set so you're f***** whichever way you look at it. I try hard to be a decent, compassionate, tolerant person and I don't like posting spiteful, aggressive messages but if I'd wanted to be insulting you'd have known about it. Maybe it's a side-effect of the gay genes but I could have bitched you under the table and not broke sweat. I'm sorry you're inclined to expect the worst of people but that's not my problem, it's yours.

Boom boom!
I like to explain to critics/horrified onlookers/psychiatrists (delete as applicable) that my lust for filthy, Pope baiting man-on-man action is a choice rather than an affliction bravely borne. I wasn't born this way -it required lots of hard work and a fair bit of trial and error. The sudden outbreak of humour in this thread has restored my faith in humanity. After my last post I wasn't sure if I'd fallen foul of gay genes or rabies. I was practically foaming at the mouth (not a consequence of the gay lifestyle despite what the Christian right would have you believe). Thank you for the anarchic, bad taste humour. It's really cheered me up. Anyway, must dash. I have a flower arrangement to finish and a pair of leather chaps that need ironing!

So now, because I don't do as you "say" and go off to buy a multi-region DVD player (which if you had bothered to read my post as you said you had skipped it) I need to be sectioned under the Metal Health act because you don't know how to read? You can't expect to address me like that and that I will just agree with everything you say. As for the "gay genes" comment -I don't know if that was directed at me or not but frankly I don't care enough about you to bother starting a fight.
I also believe that whether or not I am on the "breadline" is my business and not yours. And enough with the "If I wanted to be insulting you would know about it" crap. You sound like me 5 years ago. If you have something to say say it I really couldn't care less either way. And I am not being passive aggressive, nor do I "expect the worst of people." I was being matter of fact.
And regardless of how you "intend" something to sound or come across in reality this is written text, open to many misunderstanding/miscommunications and you can't expect that just because you want someone to understand what you are saying in a certain way, they will or will agree. So what if I don't agree with you? Every time I have an opinion against yours im talking bollocks?
Infact I don't even know who you are, so for you, I think I've spoken to you about twice here.. to tell me how I feel, as well as tell me "I'm f****" and I'm "talking bollocks" due to the simple fact I disagreed with what you said is more than a tad passive-aggressive on YOUR part I think. Whatever, insult me as you will, for my part in this I'm done.

Wow... this thread is like that couple who always gets into embarrassing fights in public over nothing. You don't really want to listen, but you just can't stop... This has got to be the most vicious flame war I've seen on this board.

Jesus Christ woman! You missed the point AGAIN despite my best efforts to drag you kicking and screaming into the real world. I wrote that you should be sectioned because you're psychotic not because you didn't buy a f****** DVD player! When you say you like bunnies I can only assume you mean simmering in a pan of boiling water? You responded to something that was intended to be lighthearted in a very scary way and I can only thank God I don't know you, or anybody like you. Now please return to the bleak Gold box free existence from whence you came and get out of my face you strange, troubled creature you.

Evenreven, I'm lobbying for you to be sainted as I type. I should point out that I don't really have any ill will towards Maddy because I don't know her and I'm just responding to (arguably demented) words on a screen. Your post made my point far better than I did. I was just trying to be helpful, and humorous. Don't cry for me Argentina etc. etc.

I'm very fond of my postcards and very grateful I got some in my boxset. That is all.
My theory by A. Elk, brackets, Miss, brackets. This theory goes as follows and begins now. All brontosauruses are thin at one end, much much thicker in the middle, and then thin again at the far end. That is my theory, it is mine, and it belongs to me, and I own it, and what it is, too. Ange's Odyssey
