to tell you the truth I can much better understand enjoying watching the murder scene than laughing at the scene when Sarah and Leland find out about Laura's death

The killing itself is not so scary, but the most disturbing thing is that creepy sound of the gramophone...Sarah crawling helpless on the floor and the look of Leland when Maddy comes and sees him wearing those disgusting white gloves....
Beware of BOB

When I call out no one can hear me,when I whisper he thinks the message is for him only..my little voice inside my throat,I always think there must be something that I've done or something I can do...But no one no one comes to help,he says,a little girl like you...

ca-chi ca-chi ----- ca-chi ca-chi ------ ca-chi ca-chi ------ that sound really might be the creepiest part of the whole murder scene, but what comes to the actual killing I find it really creepy when BOB has cornered Maddy and makes that "come over here" thing with his hands.... and Maddy tries to get out of the situation by trying to run away while being totally scared but Bob just smiles and enjoys the little cat & mouse play....

Yeah, exactly that part of the scene is really creepy!BOB caught Maddy just like a cat catches a little scared mouse!

Hey, a new user here and figured this thread to be the best way to get to it so to speak! The last 20 minutes of 'Beyond Life & Death' are my favourite of the entire series to be honest, its like walking between the light and dark of David Lynch's complex (very, very complex..) mind/imagination. But the Laura Doppelganger screaming, and even the pose that Sheryl has when Cooper first notices her scares the proverbials out of me.. In FWWM I find the tension the most frightening aspect of the movie, but if I had to pick out a single moment (this changes quite regularly FYI) I'd have to say the moment with Laura and Harold. You can just slowly see her almost fading into her darker character the more frightened she becomes; culminating in her brief transformation: "Fire... walk... with... me.... ME!!!"
"And the angels wouldn't help you.. Because they've all gone away.." - Laura Palmer, 'Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me'

Not an episode scares me anymore due to watching them over and over again, especially the best ones but im going with when i first saw the show Scariest has to be when BOB/Leland kills Maddy. We all knew the killer would be revealed and i think we all knew it was Leland who BOB was possessing but i didnt expect to see what i did. Second would probs be when Ronettle awoke from her coma and had a flashback of what happern in the train. Again, you didnt expect to see that.

All the BOB scenes freaked me out but I never liked the chacracter of Windom Earle, I just never felt frightened by him at all. I suppose it's because, even though I still loved TP after Leland was unveiled as the killer and dies I thought that the series lost something.

QUOTE:For some reason, when Leland/BOB chases Maddy off camera and up the stairs....That freaked me out the most. The camera is stationary and you can hear Maddy screaming and screaming but you can only imagine what's going on.

It's a weird feeling when you watch that scene, I love it but also can't stand the buildup, you just keep on telling Maddy to get out of the house.

For me it HAS to be in the final episode where Cooper is in the Black Loodge..walking down the corridor..and suddenly he looks directly at camera and grins. Aaaaaaaaaaaaargh!! I remember thinking WHAT THE HELL IS HAPPENING?!?! That moment was so frightening. I never expected that to happen to Coop! Brilliant and really scary. Must be special mention for Maddy's murder scene. Especially the moment where Lelan is putting on his rubber gloves and wrining his hands.

I was 11 when Twin Peaks was first shown. I will never, ever forget seeing the scene where BOB kills Maddy and just being so unutterably terrified! I stayed awake all night because I was so scared, and I didn't have any books to read (I wasn't allowed to have the Secret Diary of Laura Palmer because of all the sex, but I sneaked into the bookshop and read it anyway) so I just read a dictionary. So I suppose I have Lynch to thank for learning a few more words! There is something really creepy about Earle's black teeth, though I never found him particularly scary (too pantomime). And Ronette's flashback is truly horrible, as is that sense of dread in the scene where the camera tracks down the school corridor, sheriff's station etc and then we see BOB's arm. And AAARRRGGGHHH!!! When he crawls over the Haywards' sofa! But at the end of the day, Maddy's death scene is the scariest IMHO, due to the simple fact that it took me until last week to be able to watch it on my own. Despite the fact that I'm now 28!

Probably Ronette's dream montage of Laura and BOB in the train car. You don't really see all that much violence-wise, but the whole thing is so nightmariish, just not the type of thing you'd regularly encounter on prime time tv.

I mean it like it is, likeitsounds: I too have been touched by the devilish one. I can totally relate to your story, likeitsounds, except you can add two more years plus the fact that the many libraries and bookshops I visited over the years never had Laura's Diary in store, unfortunately. So I kept on with the dictionaries! Plus I made some music some time ago using the aforementioned sampled quote from my main shoe seller, Mr Philip Gerard. Maddy's death was a definite shocker, with slow-motion sound making it incredibly animalistic and the impression is one of cruelty and gratuitous violence. I found myself praying for Maddy more than once now, I always seem to think someone will ring the bell or something but no. One of my personal disturbing moment is just happening before the miss Twin peaks contest I think and Cooper and Annie are casually talking, obviously slacking on the job. All seems pristine in this very image of ideal and pure love, sweet and innocent. Yet, something started to unsettle me. There was this slow zoom-out that didn't end and what I felt like an ominous sound, like something going under the ground (not even quite sure about that part), then I think you can hear this dripping, this insistent dripping, reverberating, echoing in some kind of jar (Cooper's head at that moment?) and a close-up to a spilled cup of coffee(something gone bad?). It wasn't this big frightening moment, it was no Bob, just the feeling that even this: the most pristine moment shared by two loving individuals is undermined by subterranean forces of influence of a dark nature.
The sound wind makes through the pines. The sentience of animals. What we fear and what lies beyond the darkness.

Very few series can still conjure up that shiver of dread in audiences years after they've aired. Lynch has always been able to make things that seem typically normal become disturbing. Just the transition shots like the traffic light swinging in the wind, the pines swaying, and the river running through the darkness work perfectly. The ominous tracking shots through the hallways and flashlight beams cutting through the darkness don't require any special effects. In Mulholland Dr. he can make two women huddled around a telephone tense and the image of the angel vanishing from the picture in Fire Walk With Me is absolutely chilling. The pilot episode alone has the brutalized girl staggering across the bridge, the push in on Laura's prom queen photo as her classmates weep, and her mother emitting that icy scream as she has the vision of the gloved hand retrieving the locket, all incredibly terrifying. As often as he's criticized for being excessively weird, many of Lynch's horrors are effective in their relative simplicity. I still find the scene in the movie where Laura and James are conversing in the woods and she looks over his shoulder only to scream out in terror to be nerve-jangling. The earlier encounter with BOB in her bedroom is a fright straight out of childhood. His scream is deafening and his open mouth seems ready to consume her, the childhood fear of being eaten coming to mind.

Hi Velvet, there are 62 copies of Fire Walk With Me on amazon.com, but one of the other posters might be able to clue us in on what's going on with the fight for a new release with the deleted scenes...

The slow motion just attempts to wrench your soul clean out of your body. I'd say the defining moment of the death scene to me is during the slow motion sequence when Maddy is on the couch screaming her lungs out "UNCLE LELAND NOOOOOO!!" The viewer laments that there's no way to save her, it's like a nightmare.

At the missTP contest the lights go out, strobes go on, and the panic begins, the whole time we know something bad is going to happen, there is a moment where we catch a glimpse of Earl as the loglady and it's intense and horrifing and gives me the shivers everytime. I love these kind of moments, and there many more in this episode too.

I would have to say the most frightening scene in TP for me has to be episode 14 when BOB/Leland kills Maddy. It doesnt do anything to me now but i remember the first time i saw this!! Also Ronettes dream was abit scary and i didnt expect to see that coming. I wouldnt really go as far to say the last episode was scary but was a work of art and very well written!!

The most disturbing scene is Sheriff Truman and Josie Packard making love ;) The most frightening scenes are when Laura Palmer acts in the Black Lodge...More in FWWM than in TP.... Sonia
