I ordered mine months ago as well but when it seemed that it never arrived, I ordered it again. After that, in less than two weeks it arrived. You should try that, too.

I do like the clip, it has the Lynchian feel to it. The end seems strange but if someone then Lynch is the one to make stuff like that worth your while. All the stuff I've seen, read and heard considering the project have only been for the good. I'm really looking forward to IE. Sadly, it seems at the moment that we're looking at 2007 release. So long time still ahead.

Same goes of course for the other projects, TP season 2 dvds etc, since it has been said that Lynch will do one thing at a time.

Very peculiar.

Still interesting though.

...closeups looked ok.
...the more shallow depth of field helped these shots some.

If anyone in the US has a hard time getting their copy, I have an extra.  Sorry to the overseas gang, I can't afford the shipping.  Just PM me.

i ordered mine last week...hope to see it before Inland Empire's releasing....

anyway, i watched the clip, i agree with mr. lynch when he was saying the poor and grainy quality of images can add some "dreamy" bit to a movie (even if i have to consider that this is the opposite of the visual PERFECTION of many lynch's movies....think about lost highway just to give an example), it could be potentially a forward step of innovation in lynch's poetry.

so i think all we can do is to wait.

 and i hate waiting.

It took two months for your fellow Italian, mr. silencio from Florence, I'm afraid.

JOHN NEFF: "If the story is any good, five minutes into this thing no one will even think about the look. If the story's bad, then they'll talk about it".

I absolutely agree! Just look at Dogville! I haven't seen it, but everyone I've spoken to says they didn't mind that the sets were all chalk lines on a concrete floor! If the story is strong enough, that's all you need!

I felt something similar to the "digital look" complaint when I watched Collateral. At first I couldn't believe how "video" it looked. But about 20 minutes in, it became part of the look and "feel" of the film, and I soon got past it. Now I can't imagine it any other way! (To anyone who hasn't seen it: It's a great film!)

Is the let down of reality better than not realizing a dream? Never forget the importance of hope.

Heheh, nobody wants to annoy an Irishman though. We won't listen to you when you come over and ask about leprechauns and tell us that your great great grandmother's dog was Irish and you 'feel' the connection. ;) We're too nice

You mean that Irish nice guy stuff is just an ACT???  No way!  I refuse to believe it.

The number of times we were lost on Irish backroads and asked locals for directions, while they stood in pouring rain chatting about their relatives in the states and smiling all the while -- that could not be phony.  Just being 'nice?'  Nope.  Sorry.  I'm not buying it.  The Irish ARE nice.  And they DO care about American's sense of connection even when you don't have one!

I rank the Irish first place in Euro-friendliness to American tourists with the Italians in a close second place.

Collateral looks totally different from that clip by Lynch on the dvd. As a matter of fact the film negative format is a mix of Video HDTV and 35 mm.

I really hope that clip isn't going to influence the video quality of INLAND EMPIRE.

I hope that scene isn't from IE (just caught it on YouTube.)   I could see it as a short on DL.com, but as a movie, those chracters and that dialogue (and the bad singing) would be really, really uncompelling.

What's the link for the video on YouTube? I have the DVD, but I wanted to point some others to it.

I hated the clip the first time, but I watched again a few days later and it was growing on me. The mood is definitely very creepy, maybe it will look better transferred to film.
