Hi. I'll break my idle streak by asking for a favor:

I have a project band. We'll, it's mostly just me, but still. The music is somewhat ambient, and sort of mood styles, with some variance. I'll post links later, as a few of them are somewhat related to Twin Peaks music.

But first... making music is not that hard, but damn it, making up a band name is. I'd like a Twin Peaks reference in the name, as TP is a vital source for my creativity. The problem is, the band name would have to be google unique, i.e. searching on google for a band of that name shouldn't find one. Also, two words in the name is pretty much a maximum.

I'm sapped, so I'm looking for assistance in the one place I think might be able to help. Thanks in advance :)

Collides With Ham.

Probably not the feeling you were aiming for, though.

Already taken. And they suck balls.

Loads of bands have TP-inspired names, and most of them are awful. Laura Palmer are one of the worst, it sounds like people who can't play guitar decided to play guitar and scream loudly over it. One of the only good bands are Madeleine Ferguson. They did a split EP with a band called Bury me Standing which is amazing, their only LP is pretty good too. The Bookhouse Boys are also pretty damn sweet. Moody slow melodic folk-rock with dual male/female vocals. ArmsBendBack are ok too. Get on Last.fm and just search for TP quotes and there's shit-loads of them.

My suggestions:

Emory Battis and the Unicorns
The Packard Conspiracy
James Marshall's Fivehead
Between Two Worlds
Where We're From
Invitation To Love (haha)
J'ai Une Ame Solitaire
Dweller On The Threshold
Josie's Knob
Donna's Daddy
Filled With Secrets
How's Annie
Jacoby's Glasses
Seriously Who The Fuck Is Judy
If I Fart In The Red Room, Does It Go tfffffP Instead Of Pffffft?
Bob
Under The Fan Now
Bobby Briggs
Dead Dog Farm

There are bands called Laura Palmer and Madelene Ferguson?

Let's not forget this topic, discussing the band Audrey Horne:

http://www.2000revue.com/community/topic.cfm?topicid=4243

Clearly there needs to be bands called Donna Hayward, Josie Packard, Lucy Moran, Norma Jennings, and Annie Blackburn.

Or how about just "Blackburn?"

Other possibilities:

Shelley's Revolver

Jack With One Eye

Mill Fire

Easter Park

Ronnette's Bridge (now that I think about it, I believe there is a band called Ronnette Pulaski, too)

and, of course,

The Bookhouse Boys

Yeah, it's pretty ridiculous. To be fair, Madeleine Ferguson have been around for a long time now, before the sudden wave of TP band names spilled out.

Oh, and The Bookhouse Boys has been taken. They're bloody good actually. Get on iTunes or Last.fm and give them a little spin. Recommended if you like Nick Cave, Chris Isaak, Johnny Cash, Ilya and Bjork.

Bluefrank's handle would make a good band name, mostly because it recalls the awesome Thought Gang song. I would be disappointed if the sound wasn't, though.

What does your band sound like?

Wow, I didn't expect this topic to get so much attention. I guess people are just hungry for any Twin Peaks related issue nowadays. Well, I can't blame them :D

So yeah... I think my first project is going to go as "The Packard Conspiracy", just because it's cool on its own and a good reference when you get it. Thanks hopesfall :)

I wouldn't mind a second name, but I'll have to up the criteria... I'll quote a friend of mine here:

"A good band name is short, simple and sounds like 'hernia'". All that added to the TP-reference. Honestly, I don't want people to spend too much time on this, I'm grateful as it is, but if someone comes up with a good one, you'll make a TP fan happy :)
