I was wondering what people think of the guy and his obvious cocaine habit as it appears in all his films and seems to be a staple of his work almost appearing as if it's a character in itself.

I personally believe he has had an affair with the stuff for a long time.

I wont have that many easily relayed lessons to teach my kids, but "don't read about the personal lives of people you admire" will be in the top 5. Almost everyone is a tremendous disappointment.

In what Lynch films other than TP and FWWM does cocaine appear? Does the spice count?

I'm more disturbed by Lynch's obvious gerontophilia, which this time, yeah, I think elderly people appear in all his films...

I think you mean obvious caffeine/nicotine habit. They affect the brain essentially the same way as cocaine, but ... you just stated that someone is a coke user based on what again? Back statements like that up with something-- I want to see a Kate Moss-style line snorting video interview!

DL has always been outspoken against illegal drug use and claims to have never touched a substance, even when it was all around him during his art school days.

Lol you guys have stars in your eyes for Lynch.

He makes the most craziest movies ever and you claim he hardly touches substances. I guarantee he is into the cocaine culture or was in a big way.

Just as much as David Bowie was(you should read his wifes autobiography for some amazing stories about Bowies visions and paranoid delusions).

I guarantee you Lynch is reading this and dude We All Know.

I just got an amazing idea Lynch should make a Bowie biopic it could be his masterpiece.

DL's behavior is about on par with folks who are into tm.  Most are energetic and unusual.  Also most of them won't eat meat, let alone do coke.  I don't think he's a cokehead because I have never noticed constant sniffing during any of his interviews.  To me, that is the telltale sign of a cokehead.

I don't think the sun shines out of DL's ass personally but I think it's unfair to say that someone has a serious drug habit when there's no proof.  He doesn't exactly glamorize drug use in his films in case you haven't noticed.

ps I guarantee Lynch is not the least bit concerned with reading what's posted on this board.  Just saying.

David Lynch masturbates to kangaroo porn! How couid he not? Kangaroo fucking is is, like, in all his movies-- which are totally crazy because of all this love of kangaroo carnality!

What drugs Lynch does, what his mantra is, how many times he goes to the bathroom a day, and what he calls Emily in bed don't affect my opinion of his movies, or make me imagine references to cocaine in them.

Correction. HE actually claims consistently to NEVER have touched them. Drugs only make the person on them think they have crazy/amazing ideas. Unless you're a genius first, to anyone else druggie drivel sounds as profound as a potato hitting the ground.

Erm, case in point.

The TM philosophy DL lives by is that A truly creative mind is actually more creative when it's clean. Clean of alcohol, drugs, and negativity.

Look at it this way. If drugs made people innovative in Hollywood, there would actually be innovative movies coming out of Hollywood.

Gotta say, I think David's logic wins out on this one.

I totally agree i hardly ever touch drugs although i have done in the past. I am only 23 and have smoked copious amounts of cannabis and psychedelics. My appreciation of movies has increased with age and because of a lack of drug intake.

Dude if you have read Angela Bowies Autobiography you'd understand what i was talking about. Twin Peaks i.e the dream sequences are bizzare pieces that are quintessential coke head nonsense all i'm saying is Lynch does drugs. It is part of my natural instincts much like food or sex. i am very well known for these things so i am right and you are wrong. Also the Beatles advocate TM Ringo Starr is a drug casualty having been a marijauna user, alcholic and dare i say it coke head. Paul Mcartney to this day jokes about "coco" being his favourite thing. Are you telling me he does'nt take it or has done on a daily basis?

Wow, you are just full of sound logic today! TM doesn't kick out drug users like its a club, and not everyone who meditates wants to or is able to get into Ayurvedic lifestyles like DL. The Beatles also were in and out of TM the organization. DL is very much a full time spokesperson.

All I'M saying is that Lynch has contradicted your assertion in print and on video for years, way before he was selling TM, and you are the only one who knows how the Red Room is coke inspired -- please explain. Also, still waiting on examples of how coke appears in every Lynch movie. Until you make with a better argument than your sixth sense (if I had a nickel for every time a gay guy claimed a hot straight actor as one of their own); Lynch is right and YOU are wrong. ;) It's borderline slanderous without evidence, in fact.

Letterman:So is it true?

Lynch"What"

Letterman " Are you a fiend"

Lynch" I'm a coke fiend"

Audience laughs and applauds.

HERE IS AN ACTUAL QUOTE FROM LYNCH

I started doing drugs in college and I feel that they help me cope with the stress of my everyday life, and even seem to increase my creativity. I am aware that they do damage to my body, and I intend to quit eventually, but my life is pretty stressful, and I keep coming back to drugs to just unwind.

Wow, and to think all those years where I had a raging coke habit, I could've made brilliant films and had an entire message board dedicated just to me! OH THE WASTED OPPORTUNITY.

Hey, look, I can play this game, too!

"I have smoked marijuana, but I no longer do. I went to art school in the 1960s, so you can imagine what was going on. Yet my friends were the ones who said: “No, no, no, David, don’t you take those drugs.” I was pretty lucky.

Besides, far more profound experiences are available naturally."

And yet I can do one better by posting a source.

The beginning part of that quote, from Catching the Big Fish:

"We all want expanded consciousness and bliss. It's natural, human desire. And a lot of people look for it in drugs. But the problem, is that the body, the physiology, takes a hard hit on drugs. Drugs injure the nervous system, so they just make it harder to get those experiences on your own."

I know I always trust the instincts of someone who can't tell a Q from an A in a Q & A. I hope when Hitpack's bowels are full he doesn't blow his nose.

**inserts fabricated Letterman quote about how David used to be a woman**
