This post is probably more directed at the people that didn't watch TP when it first aired because I'd assume that you all watched it with your friends anyway.

I'm making this post because I've recently let my friend at work borrow Season 1 and she finished it this weekend with her friends and they've already ordered the Gold Box so they can watch Season 2!!

It makes me happy I now have someone at work I can talk about Twin Peaks with :)

i've really only gotten one of my friends on board. it's just not a show for everyone, and you gotta know who will like it

I am ashamed of this but no-one.

I watched the first half-hour of the Pilot with my sister, and it just didn't feel right. I think it's quite a personal show.

Pretty much everyone in my life I have been able to get some level of respect for the show.  Being that my mom and I used to watch the show together when it was on, my family is pretty into, or at least pretend to be, the show.

9 people, none of whom it did it really "take" with. Working on my parents...

i bet that'll work, most older folks are sophisticated enough to "get" it. i think a lot of people our age were raised in a post-mtv mindset and aren't really up for the pacing or something

So far just 8- I got the gold box right before my field season last year and all my crew save one huddled around a laptop in a trailer in the middle of nowhere to watch both Season 1 and Season 2.

Uh oh, a thread exposing the pro-Twin Peaks agenda.
They are trying to convert people! No one is safe!

A friend recently saw the whole thing and loved it, actually became semi-obsessed... Of course I've told him some times that he should check it out and he knows about my love for it, etc. but actually I didn't insist to the point where I became a pain in his ass... I hate when people do that, telling you over and over and over to see something they worship... So he discovered it almost by himself and now is a true peaker, he checks the Gazette from time to time.

On the other hand, I'm planning to buy the Gold Box as a present to a girl from work, a very good friend... In her case I'm sure she doesn't knows anything about it or at least not much...so it would be interesting.

It was a joke, but now I'm not so sure

None, I'm not naive enough to assume other people will like what I like.

"Harry, I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Every day, once a day, give yourself a present. Don't plan it, don't wait for it, just let it happen. Could be a new shirt at the men's store, a catnap in your office chair, or two cups of good, hot, black coffee. Like this."  -Dale Cooper

What's wrong with introducing a great show to other people. Obviously, if they watch it and don't like it, then that's something else.

There's nothing wrong with it.  I just don't force things I like upon others.  I also think there is only a small niche of people that would qualify for asking to watch and then to enjoy the show.

I suppose it is the only one of my favourite shows that I could conceivably see my friends hating.

witholding discs leads to people reading wikipedia to find out what happens next. sad but true

When I first watched the show I deliberately told myself not to look at anything online about Twin Peaks so when I finally found out 'whodunnit' I was really shocked, I should've seen it coming now I know the series a lot better..

However, my friend who I lent the first season to said she was in the pub talking to her mates about TP and someone told her what happens in episode 29!! i was soooo annoyed, she's not even on the second season yet!

Seems like offering TP to folks usually ends without a convert to the great TV show.

When aired originally I just had these five friends.  Two Blue Velvet alums, the rest of us had some knowledge of DL as an off the wall movie maker. We were all totally into it each week. We attracted zero other fans.

None directly. But maybe when I wear my Twin Peaks shirt or talk or write about them I have influenced people indirectly and they've gone looking for the DVDs later or looked it up on the net, who knows

About a dozen or so, and I'd say maybe three of those graduated to semi-obsessive for at least a little while.

About a dozen. I think there's only one person who ever really dug it.

oh god -too many to count- especially back in the day.

My mom taped the pilot for me while I worked the after school job and was excited to watch it, but dear old mom said it was really slow and boring.  What the hell does she know?  That old drunk, she better not expect me to take care of her in her old age -I forgive but don't forget.  Anyway, my old VHS tapes became pretty popular in high school with lots of copies being made and more and more fans- we started having the Peaks parties with the donuts, pies, coffee and the hand on the rewind button post show and the debates.  Fun, fun, fun.

College it continued with the tapes and post college.  So many people.

And this past year at work at least three people intently following...

HOWEVER, I don't think anyone post the actual series ending that I got into the show made it all the way through and end it with what the hell happened.  I've never met anyone that talked about the final episode or even remembers it.

One girl at work (who was born in like 1985!!- ouch for me) peeled through the first half of the show this past month -calling me all the time about it- but has now stopped around the James/Evelyn plot.
