Yeah, almost all the celebs that "flaked" during Eric's tenure get a bye as far as I'm concerned because I know he did a lot of "Oh so-and-so is coming!" stuff without the celebrity ever being confirmed. I'd hesitate to give them black eyes just because of Eric's incompetence and extremely lengthy Pinocchio nose.

Oh Yes, Eric was the Fest coordinator from 98 to 01. It was great that he kept the Fest alive but some of his business ethics were very questionable which nearly killed off the fest. After the 2001 fest The Eisenstadt's (We love you guys) took over and life has been wonderful ever since. The Fest is now ran by Amanda and Jared.

Eric Thomas, thought it'd be a good idea to run the fest by himself. On his last year, he convinced Susan to ask me on Friday night if I'd run one of the bus tours the next day. As I'm a relative pushover for her, I said yes. Eric tells me: "Thanks, man. I owe you one." Never got that "one". But I DID work for Susan on the committee the following year. What ever happened to old Eric?

That would have been a good question for Paula Shimatsuu to answer, Chris! She was the last to see him after tracking him down for many years. Let's just say she was happy to regain possession of many of her items. Susan

I have to say, Susan really elevated my opinion of the festival in 2000. My first one was 1999 and while it was a great time, it was rather disappointing to not really know which celebs were actually going to be there, and things felt generally disorganized. In 2000 I arrived at the sign-in only to discover that Jenny and I didn't have fest packets for us. But thankfully I had my confirmation card, and Susan worked to cobble together a packet for us, and then she got us our tickets for film night and told us to make double sure we didn't lose them because we needed to make sure we could get in! And I'm glad she did because that film night ended up being oversold and many festgoers ended up not getting in because they didn't get those tickets in their packets. Susan, I just remember you and Jeff spending a lot of time that weekend apologizing to people on Eric's behalf and trying to make things right. My hat has always been off to you for that, because had you not been so on top of trying to mitigate all those miniature disasters, I don't think I would have ever returned to another festival...(plus I know what you had to go through after taking it over from Eric and trying to smooth things over with all the contacts he jilted; I don't envy you that task).
