morpheus said : Mrs. Tremond tells Donna, that her grandson studies magic. Somebody "longing to see" can also refer to somebody who is still learning: That equally applies to a student (of magic) and a child in general. Also Mrs. Tremond's grandson (maybe like the bellboy of a hotel) snips with his fingers and the lodge becomes the Red Room in FWWM. Pure Fxxxing Magic! (who else may be considered "a magician"?)

In season 2, episode 16 when Cooper gathers all the suspects at the Roadhouse, they clear a space in the center of the room. Cooper says he has used FBI mathods, instinct, Tebetan mathods etc in the case of Laura Palmer however with Maddy's murder he needs to try something else. He says something along the lines of 'for the sake of argument lets call it magic'

There a magician, right there (points ala Philip Jeffries)

Actually, they all are!!!

The Black Lodge MAGICIANS were once humans, part of a religious sect from Tibet known as the Dugpas (you can google it). Windom mentions that they were Dugpas. I tell  you they have not died - They found a way to another dimension. MIKE, BOB, THE ARM, THE GIANT - MAGICIANS ALL!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, Cooper is a magician too - dispatched by Gordon Cole to fight magic with magic (a blue rose case) - hence the title of episode 16: Arbitrary Law.

As others on this board have suggested, maybe the white-masked figure wearing Red during the FWWM convenience store scene is an allusion to Cooper, as this figure is imposed when Jeffries points the finger at Coop.  As the Tremond grandson reveals a monkey behind his own white mask, I beleive the same would exist for the Red/Cooper figure as well.  I don't have HD imagry, but it appears that this being has primate-like hands.  There also seems to be a primitave tool or weapon in its hand.

the gazette had postings on the "persons" thought to be from the lodges about a year and a half ago. do a search for "black lodge encyclopedia"  and you will find a great compendeum of lodge thoughts put together wonderfully and thankfully by sourdust.

i havent heard from sourdust in a while now, so im not sure if he's still making new entries. anyway, i wanted to post these because i see many of you coming up with your own original ideas, yet sometimes are very close to the theories all of us put out a little over a year ago, which sourdust made into this very user friendly item.

thewiz-you might just want to avoid clicking on these links. its all lodge talk.
maybe theres a myspace page you can troll instead.

JFK was just being helpful, I think, Rebs :)

Still, personally, I thought Sourdust made a lot of inconclusive leaps, and putting it all into something called an Encyclopedia made it sound like it was fact that could't be argued with.

These are all topics that are worth debating over and over, and it IS why the board is here... ;)

rebel- truly i was joking, and i think wizofxenia knew it. im sorry my humor doesnt come across well in text all the time. i rely on voice dynamics and facial expression to (hopefully) show im not being an asshole. i dont want to speak for others, but i think wiz said he gets it. besides, i though it was a good line, but had no where to use it. apologies if i offended anyone through misunderstanding.

as for the encyclopedia, by no means do i consider it definitive.  i just saw similiar questions being asked and pondered by newcomers about things covered at length in the encylopedia, such as the connection between the jumping man in the red suit and the grandson(who also jumps, wears a white mask, and carries some sort of wooden contraption), so i thought it might help those who havent seen it to have it made available to them. that was all.

Just to me, I made a connection between the grandson and his magicianship as a proxy for David Lynch himself. He (Dave) is the magician that directs the whole dang film. He just points his finger and makes directions like "Fell a victim." for the whole film.

??

To further the argument that the white-masked figure wearing Red during the FWWM convenience store scene is an allusion to Cooper the magician, the same or similar object held by this figure is also seen in the hands of the Tremond magician during other scenes in the film.  Both characters perform jumping motions as well.
