The point was that Laura writing that to her diary was never filmed. We can't be automatically sure that she did write it by just watching the movie. But when David confirmes that in the book, we can be sure about it.
I know that not everything has to be filmed. Laura could leave her home and end up being in Donna's home. We don't have to see her going there because we can see the beginning and the end of that walk. But when it comes to a scene where someone tells someone else to write something but the writing hasn't been filmed and there is absolutely no hint that it would've been written, we can't automatically suggest that the quote was written. Actually, the total absence of any kind of visual (seeing Laura writing or seing it written) or auditive (hearing someone talk about that writing) proof of her writing it we have more proof to say that she didn't end up writing it. But when we hear from the creator himself that she did write it, then we have more proof for the writing to exist |
hmm ..this confuses me. Noit what you said in itself but
A) What exactly does this have to do with the "20 years ago comments/subject" b) What do you mean by "we don't have proof"? Laura is SEEN writing in her diary in FWWM, well opening it with a pen in hand before finding the torn out pages from BOB, then it is seen referenced several times in Twin Peaks, first when Harold reads from it, then when Donna and Maddy find and take it, then when Cooper is reading from the torn pages, etc.. The reason Laura is not seen writing in it is because she is dead. Is this like one those "if a tree falls over in the woods does it make a sound" type of things?! sorry I am not getting at you I just completely fail to see the relevance lol. Back to the subject matter:- yes interesting - or maybe it is just that Lynch and Frost wanted to have a timeframe for the characters and considering Ed and Norma/Nadine are all (a very old looking) 35 it makes sense for it to all have happened 20 years ago so they would be like 15/16 when they left school/started working/everything would fit. Remember: Ed and Nadine got married "right outta high school" as did Hank and Norma, Norma won the Miss Twin Peaks so she would have been 16 or 18, etc...I think it could just be about that...the timeframe fitting for the storylines and not to read too much into it. Not saying that about Earle and Project Bluebook though. :-)

I might be pretty confusing at times :) But I'll try to explain... So here it goes: a) Nothing. It was just about something that 12rainbow wrote. b) I meant that we don't see that Laura wrote the "the good Dale is in the Lodge and he can't leave" quote to her diary. Annie tells Laura to write it but we don't see her writing it to her diary. We don't hear her saying she wrote it. There's nothing in the movie and in the series to prove it that she wrote it in her diary. The only thing that clearly says she wrote it is David Lynch's words in Lynch on Lynch. About the 20 years -thing. It wouldn't be a thing to write about if it were only about Ed and Norma and stuff like that. But what made me think about this was the moment I heard Gordon Cole saying he's been having the hearing problem for 20 years. That was the moment that made me think that there might've been something weird happening 20 years ago. Of course, it could be just a weird coinscience but it really is a bit odd that so many big things in peoples lives happened exactly 20 years ago. Now, of course every day there are a lot of people having big things happening to them but to mention the exact year in a TV series is a bit thought provocing. I hope this made more sense :)

Yeah, I think the parallels between the high school classes are there and that 20 years ago (1969) was the senior year of Norma, Ed, Nadine, et al so we get a history repeating itself sort of thing. Now, Lucy doesn't appear to be from the same class as Norma, right? In between the two classes it seems and her character doesn't seem to be affected by the main plot - this is significant. She's out of the loop so to speak. What I'd like to know is what Event happened 20 years ago. Something must have happened because the Bookhouse boys were formed, etc...

Was the Bookhouse Boys formed 20 years ago? Didn't Harry told Coop that his father, and his father and so on had been members?

I don't know about that: 1969 (approx) Bookhouse Boys formed ("going on 20 years now," Truman to Cooper, 1003) from http://www.twinpeaks.org/archives/references/timeline Is this the best timeline web page? I was thinking of taking that web page and adding screenshots from the series here and there and creating a new page.

| QUOTE:The last conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn perhaps |
"How long does it take for Jupiter and Saturn to align? By my calculations: 20 - 25 years. (Coincidence?) When will Coop see Laura again? 20 - 25 years. When did W.E. get the boot from the Black Lodge project? 20-25 years ago. Now, I think we have a cycle here. Every 20-25 years a good cop goes into the Black Lodge and comes out as a bad guy. Happened with WE, happening with CooP. Since WE was working on the BL before Coop met him, Coop will probably get a partner soon after marrying Annie. Train the partner, have the partner fall in love with Annie, kill annie ..." http://www.twinpeaks.org/archives/comments/attp_final_episode_comments

WE didn't make it into the BL until 1989.

Hmm...who mentioned the conjunction"...oh yeah, it was me. I'm glad someone came along to back me up. This is not anything to do with 20 years, but I thought I'd throw in how when anyone meets anyone else at The Roadhouse they always do it or ask to be met at 9:30 p.m. some examples... 1) Ed tells Norma to meet him at the Roadhouse (pilot) 2) James tells Donna (via a note) to meet her at the Roadhouse (pilot) 3) Harry tells him the Bookhouse Boy (that turns out to be him) will meet Cooper at the Roadhouse (episode 11) 4) "The Meeting of the Angels" - (episode 23...I believe) any more examples?

Didn't James and Laura meet at 9:30 the night she died? When she sneaks out of the house... Not the Roadhouse, but it's also a meeting...
