Rain rain rain rain rain rain rain rain rain....

....d'ya see what I did there?  I am the Queen of Description and I claim my five pounds.

It is a typical British summer.  Glorious weather for a few days and all the papers are full of "Here comes the best Summer ever!", etc etc.  Then we revert back to type.  I don't mind the rain at all; it's just really humid with it.  T'is the stickiness I cannot bear :)

My theory by A. Elk, brackets, Miss, brackets. This theory goes as follows and begins now. All brontosauruses are thin at one end, much much thicker in the middle, and then thin again at the far end. That is my theory, it is mine, and it belongs to me, and I own it, and what it is, too.

A few nice sunny days in a row which has allowed time for my City to Surf team to get some running in.

There are 60 of us this year, going into the 20,000+ on the day.  I have some challengers who are a lot young (like 10-15 years!) including "Wikid Will" and "the Belgian Bullet".

I've been organising training sessions for all the team, and put out a form guide a couple of days ago where I was rated last.  Good not to set expectations!

I really hope we get a nice sunny day for the C2S - a couple of years ago was the 1 time it's rained, and it wrecked the timing system, so thousands of people (those who didn't bring stopwatches) didn't get to know their times.

Ideal conditions - sun, no breeze at all, about 16 degree celcius (cool for running in).  That's not asking too much is it?

Going to be in the upper 70's the next two days, with 60's this weekend! YES!  Finally going to break the upper 90's that it's been for a long time.  Autumn is on its way.  Time for the Happy Nanner Dance.

The weather on Long Island has been great. Usually sun, 83 degrees. a few rainy days, two days reaching low 90s. I'm moving to Novato in the valley of Marin Co. CA.in a week or two. I know that is a wonderful climate. Good chance you never hit freezing and no snow. Spring starts in January. I have a room prepared in my ole pal Debbie's house. She is recently divorced-friendly style. Air conditioning. I'm driving accross, leaving my firearms here for now with a nephew. Don't want a cop to pull me over with weapons-even a legal shotgun, pellet devices. 22 rifle.

No more winters !! Unless I take a 3 hour drive to the mountains- not that likely.

It's been quite nuts around here with all of the flooding...some people had 4 feet of water in their basements.  One village about 30 miles from here was completely evacuated as one of the major rivers *Kickapoo* went wildly out of its  banks.  According to the news, they were just being allowed to go back to their homes today as the rain has stopped for now, the waters receding.  There were several mudslides and a few homes right next to the river came off of their foundations.  There was a campground that had to be evacuated and they showed pictures today on the news of people sitting on top of their campers--one trailer still attached to someone's truck was literally up in a tree, the water got so high.  Thankfully the rain has stopped--there are supposed to be some showers this afternoon, but nothing as heavy as it has been.

Now brace yourselves because this is newsworthy!  It is RAINING in Los Angeles!  In September!  I had almost forgotten what it looked like.  Yes, the weather forecasters predicted rain today but who can believe it?  It's fantastic!  Wet.  Falling down.  Drip, drip, drip!

Not only is it raining, it's chilly.  I'm wearing jeans, a t-shirt AND a sweater but now think I'll put on some socks on my bare feet.  There's a chill in the air.  Going down to 55 degrees tonight.  More of the same is forecast for tomorrow but by Monday and through the middle of next week, the dry heat will return.  This is just a flukey taste of fall but i'm lovin' it!

It stormed here something fierce on Wednesday. Thunder, lightning, hail, rain...and the clouds stuck around through most of Thursday, most of Friday, and it's been cloudy all day today. I keep waiting for more rain but the Doppler shows it skirting us just to the north. So yay for that. Not that I don't like rain! I love it! But I'm not ready for it. I mean, I'm wearing a sweater, jeans, and heavy socks right now, for Pete's sake! I should be barefoot and wearing shorts. Argh!

It's been lovely here today. Just a reasonably mild coming-up fall day. Bit of sun, not too cold. Trees already losing leafs.. (is that a right expression?)

I'm so sorry, Rebel! I can't even imagine-

... there's a nip to the air here in Denver, rain on and off.  Births are up 20% at the local hospitals this week because of the blizzard 9 months ago.  They're giving out "I'm a 2007 Blizzard Baby" bibs to all the newborns.

Coff.  Gag.  Smoky.  Hot.  Skyless skies, if that makes sense.

Flew in today after spending a week in Michigan.  Smoke all over SoCal.  It's an ugly thing.

I kept thinking of you, Susan, during the coverage of the So Cal fires while I was working Tuesday morning. I forgot you were out of town. It's been getting slightly colder here day by day, was really windy yesterday. Expect more of the same today, which is fine because I have a great hiding place for my digi cam in my hoodie for tonight's show.

Aw, you guys are making me envious.  Today was one of those magnificent fall days in Southern California.  I was able to wear a long-sleeved t-shirt and felt a little chill when out walking the dog.  The sun was shining.  The skies had those beautiful fluffy white clouds we rarely see.  They say there's a 40% chance of a little precipitation Sunday but I doubt it.

Slowly getting colder. Been in high 30's/Low 40's at night when returning from work. During the day mid to low 50's. Clear and sunny for the most part.

Yeah, snow and cold.  I saw some footage of Germany yesterday.  Sigh.  Snow.  Big white drifts.  Guys falling back into the snow making angels.  I love the look!  Often wonder how it would look if it snowed here.  Sometimes I dream of snow on palm trees.  Once I saw cacti with snow outside of Reno Nevada.  That's an odd sight too.

I don't really want to live in a cold climate again but every time it turns to late fall-early winter, I miss those changes.

Well, last week the first snow came, but today it is all gone...so much for that winter! Now I don't even have to go up earlier to do the car, which is a good thing though (I dunno what u call it when u have to scrape the ice off the windows...is it the same as in swedish perhaps - frost? but i guess u don't say that u "frost" your car off...oh, what the heck...u know what i mean!) it's not even windy. It's more lika autumn and London I guess! rain and grey all over again :(

Drizzly, grey, wet and raining on and off. ugh.  We were told yesterday that it might start snowing soon, but it hasn't yet.  I don't like snow. Well sometimes I do, depends how crunchy and deep it is.  Or I don't like iciness should I say. I hate going out to start with but then when you go out and slip all over the street, ugh.

It's back.  Woke up this morning, clicked on the tv, and saw Malibu was burning.  I thought it was one of those "A month ago..." stories with previous footage, but no.  It's ongoing.  Twenty homes destroyed already.

It broke out at 3:30 in the morning.  For those who know Malibu, this fire is up Pacific Coast Highway and into the canyons north of Malibu Canyon (where October's fires burned) and particularly up a canyon known as Corral Canyon and Mesa Creek Mountain.  These areas have only one in-out access and that is onto Pacific Coast Highway.  Narrow winding roads.

Hoping this is quickly contained but it's not looking good yet.

The winds are high but the temperature is much cooler than it was last month -- highs in the 60s.
