I'm English but I live in Hong Kong... I guess that rules me out but I'd love to see someone organize a get together or something...

Who knows I could be tempted to make a trip back home if it coincides with a TP Euro meet-up...

Hey Everyone

I am from Denmark

What a great idea to have a get-together. There are probably many European fans of David Lynch. I study Film at Copenhagen University, Denmark (though I currently live in Århus), and over there everyone is a diehard fan of Mr. Lynch.

I would love to be part of such an arrangement. I am open to more specific suggestions.

Many went from "ooh I'd love to attend a Peaks get-together" to "hmm well now it looks like it might be happening I can't come then but I might be able to come then" and numerous PM's /emails etc with people not sure/dropping out, to the point where we pretty much didn't have enough interest, it caused several hurtful arguments among members and other things I don't see any need to go into here at this point.

This is what I see coming, given another try.

But part from such boring, realistic aspects this idea is intriguing. Being another Norwegian I totally agree (and not without a bit of surprise, I must admit) that Norway would be a good place. Lynch is popular here, we have great trees and lots of them, and a thousand more good reasons I'm sure. It's a wonderful dream.

Oh, I heard Mr Lynch himself came to the school, was it a couple of months ago? I cannot believe I missed it! It's not very far for me to go to Copenhagen, so...

as i've said before. If there will be a gettogether I will definately be a part of it, but I don't have the time or strength to organize the whole thing! and Norway is still the best place!

I agree with lilla_laura_palmer! If we just set the date at least a month in advance, It shouldn't be any problem for me to attend the Eurofest! Maybe I can tag along (or "samåka" as we say here in Sweden) with lilla_laura_palmer, since we live quite near eachother

lilla_laura_palmer - Awesome! Sounds great!

I really don't know much about Norway, so organizing the fest are almost impossible for me, but if some of the norweigean members have some ideas, maybe we can talk some more and hopefully decide something?

I'd love to have a european TP-fest! It doesn't have to be big as the one in the US, but it would be nice to meet and chat about the best TV-show on earth with other peakers

I understand that it is very difficult to start and we need a kind of"coordinater",a person who can at least start this project. And apart from the "programme"the date must be marked, people need time for arranging work matters and booking a cheap flight. If there is the festival or lets say "meeting",I am IN! By the way, will it be Norway finally?

Well, I think Norway would be a great place! It would be nice to have the festival in the summer, or is that to soon?

This summer is too soon. I agree with Angie1, that the date has to be "marked", and early. I would like to see a date for next summer. But, hey, I'm only speaking for myself, since i already have almost my entire summer planned....i kinda like to plan things in time, and we do not have a "coordinator" yet, so....depends though...

svenskar: är det en jättedum idé att ha en liten svensk träff i sommar, så kanske vi kan planera en större eu-fest nästa sommar?

Seems like the appeal of Twin Peaks is worldwide! (I'm from London, myself).

Sorry to go off-topic for a moment, but have you ever seen the films of Christoffer Boe? I think that guy is a genious, and I can see certainly similarities between his and Lynch's movies

Has he taken his eyes off it yet?

Hello once again

Nice to see so many enthused Lynch fanatics. I have been burried in studying 'Lynch and noise' for these past couple of months, so I haven't been to The Gazette as often as I would like lately.

did, in fact, talk to Lynch when he was in Denmark, and I even interviewed him for a Danish journal. However, I didn't see him when he was at the Film School. I study Film at the University, not at The Film School. In other words: I am an academic, not a filmmaker (sad to say).

And - going off topic - yes, indeed, I have seen the movies by Christoffer Boe. I am also fond of his work, though I personally see more of a throwback to the French New Wave (La nouvelle vague) in his work than an inspiration from David Lynch. But, no doubt, he is indebted to Lynch as well. Reconstruction is impressive, and in a sense very Lynchian. Allegro was more uneven, and the cartoon-parts didn't work for me (also the idea about a place in Copenhagen called "The Zone" seems to be stolen directly from Tarkovskijs 1979 film Stalker). His latest feature film, Off screen, is more my style - unpleasant and disturbing, yet very interesting and somehow appealing. Still, his best work - in my view - is Reconstruction. But I am looking forward to seeing what he comes up with next.

Andreas

How cool that you have met Lynch, Andreas!

I'm also glad to meet another fan of Boe - I've enjoyed all three of his feature films, but Offscreen is my favourite by a long way! I even saw certain thematic and aesthetic similarities with INLAND EMPIRE, but that's another story!

I still havn't seen Inland Empire. I can hardly wait any longer.

Oh, and I assure you, I was awestruck when I met Mr. Lynch. I would like to meet him again, I was almost too nervous the first (perhaps my only) time.

I am also happy to see another fan of Boe. There aren't that many good filmmakers in Denmark, really. We have an unfair reputation (as being a truly great film nation, spawing new talent all the time), however, there are a few gems hidden among the several irrelevant realists in Danish cinema. Dagur Kari - although he is Icelandic - is another great director.

No, we Europeans don't talk 4% faster (okay, some US people feel I talk to fast and usually too much...) but we watch Twin Peaks running 4% faster because of the PAL speed-up in our video system (on the other hand we don't suffer from the NTSC "judder" - well, HD is going to change that unless video equipment is 1080p/24fps compatible).

I'm from Berlin, Germany. And forget these fxxxing stereotype images you get about Germany from movies like BEERFEST or Heidi from Twin Peaks (!!!). Bobby Briggs presumption is not correct: "I thought you Germans are always on time?"

I'm usually a late runner, so much for this other stereotype

Having had extensive experience in participating and organizing fan conventions (STAR WARS and STAR TREK) I think the ideal place for some Euro TWIN PEAKS festival would be somewhere in the London area.

Flights to London are rather inexpensive today, the only real cost factor is hotel accomodation. In simpler language: Somebody living in the UK would have to seize the initiative and do some research for a site and inexpensive accomodation (preferrably with a Red Room...).

As an alternative, a place in the Netherlands might be fine, too.

I'd really love such an event that would bring TWIN PEAKS aficionados from Europe together to share ideas, interpretations and the like. It's nice to do this on a board but there is nothing next to the "real" thing.

Walk Boldly!
