How about that one? For me it's much more difficult than Blue Velvet, even though I like Blue Velvet much more - but here there are just so many wonderful moments! This is a rough version, likely to be edited... 1. Leland and Sarah on the phone, Sheriff enters, they find out... without a word 2. Cooper's first scene 3. Bobby and Mike barking on James 4. at school, when everyone finds out (pencil breaking and so on ;-)) 5. young pritty girl... Audrey gives it away to the Norwegians And about a hundred others to mention - the town gathering, the Roadhouse fight, interrogation of Bobby, at the Haywards' when Doc finds out Donna has disappeared... the "dancing" guy at school. MANY TO GO. But I am a list maniac, I will make up my mind

1. Pete, about to go fishing, saying "Lonesome foghorn blows..." just before he finds the body. 2. Bobby flirts with Norma at the RR, the jukebox, makes out with Shelly 3. Ronnette walks across the railroad tracks
4. Sarah remembering her last words to Laura 5. Cooper and Harry staking out the Roadhouse in the cruiser (whittling, asking for a doughnut) There are scenes that have sentimental meaning to me because I've seen the locations in person so many times. I tried to be objective.

*sniff* ... perhaps... one day... :-(
So, the opening scene for you. True, Twin Peaks manages to take you in from the first shot and definitely from that first scene! The opening is perfect although I don't think it's going to make it to my top five. But you reminded me of Ronnette crossing the bridge. Doh! It's getting DIFFICULT.

When the princible announces the death of Larua Palmer. 4. The first scene with Cooper. 5. The last scene, in witch Laura's mother has a vision of someone taking the hidden necklece. Excuse me for my bad english.

Welcome, Joakim! :) My answers are almost identical to yours...LOL 1. The peeling away of the plastic to reveal Laura's face. 2. The slow pan down the telephone as we hear Sarah crying. 3. The principal's announcement over the intercom to the school, ending with him breaking into tears. 4. Coop's drive into town, "I've never seen so many trees in my life..." 5. The Roadhouse scene with the fight, "The Nightingale", Joey taking Donna away to bring to James. P.S. That "Dancing Guy" at the school, BOB1! Ha! That's a stitch! :D

1. The phone call at the Great Northern...love the way we see Harry's cruiser pulling up in the background and him walking into the building. 2. The way Julee Cruise's band keeps playing while all hell breaks loose. 3. Cooper and Truman meet for the first time (throw meeting Jacoby in there)...like the way the camera is used in the hallway while Coop and Harry are talking. 4. Cooper's attitude during Bobby's interview. 5. The whole scene over Laura's body, Andy crying and Harry and Doc Hayward's solemnity...really well done by all concerned.

1: "Diane, 11:30 am, February 24. Entering the town of Twin Peaks, five miles South of the Canadian border, twelve miles West of the state line. I've never seen so many trees in my life. As W. C. Fields would say I'd rather be here then in Philadelphia. Fifty-four degrees on a slightly overcast day. Weatherman said rain. If you get paid that kind of money for being wrong sixty percent of the time it beat working. My mileage is 79,345. Gauge is on reserve. Riding on fumes here. I've got to tank up when I get into town. Remind me to tell you how much that is. Lunch was ... uhh ... six dollars and thirty-one cents at the ... Lamplighter Inn, that's on highway two near Lewis Fork. That was a tuna fish sandwich on whole wheat, slice of cherry pie and a cup of coffee. Damn good food. Diane, if you ever get up this way that cherry pie is worth a stop. Okay. Looks like I'll be meeting up with a ahh ... Sheriff Harry S. Truman. Shouldn't be to hard to remember that. That will be at the Calhoun Memorial Hospital. I guess we're going to go up to intensive care and take a look at that girl that crawled down the railroad tracks off the mountain. I'm pretty sure I'll be checking into a hotel. I'm sure the sheriff will be able to recommend a clean place, reasonably priced. That's what I need, clean place, reasonably priced." 2: "A lonesome foghorn blows....."
3: Bobby's exaggerated jog to the Principal's office - and the whole scene which follows: "I didn't go to practice 'cause I didn't feel like it." BANG! SNAP! Genius. 4: "What's your name?"
"Fred Korat." "You're fired."
5: The whole scene in the hospital: "Gary Cooper?"; "Laura's parents...they didn't know she was seeing me!" [laughs]; "That guy's a psychiatrist?"; "Jim." "Uh, would you leave us alone please?"; "Sheriff, we've got a lot to talk about."
6: The guy who bodypops down the school corridor
With hindsight, special mention should go to: "Do you know where the key to this is, Sir?" "Do you have to take that?"
Has he taken his eyes off it yet?

Oh, girl, that just made my heart skip a beat. I always think the same thing when I ride down that highway. I've lived in the Northeast and in the Rockies, but nowhere I've been do the cone-droppers grow like in Washington State. They block out the stars at night. Cooper must be getting high off the oxygen! BOB1, you just have to see it to believe it.

The rough version and the final version don't differ much... but here it is, finally: 1. Leland and Sarah on the phone, Sheriff enters, they find out... without a word (that's the funny scene, they say) 2. Cooper's first scene 3. Bobby and Mike barking on James (no one mentioned it but me... perhaps it's not in that episode? ) 4. Ronnette over the bridge 5. At school, when everyone finds out (pencil breaking, principla's announcement...) and The Roadhouse fight, especially the way Julee keeps singing... (these two go ex aequo and get 0,5 pts each) By the way - as far as it goes, Cooper's entrance to the series is out of top three... SHOCK!

1. The transition shot from "These crimes occurred at night" and the street light. 2. Leland talking with Sarah on the phone, Truman arriving, etc. 3. The ending: Josie's "I'm afraid", Sarah screaming, gloved hand, necklace, BOB in the mirror,... 4. Pete finding Laura's corpse. 5. Fight at the Roadhouse.

Top five Twin Peaks Pilot scenes according to this topic... I don't know how to interpret the results... your votes for the introduction scenes were split to the following: - lonesome foghorn - 9 pts. - Pete finding the body - 9 pts. - unwrapping Laura, Sheriff and others over her body - 11 pts. and also: opening credits - 9 pts. The credits I will not exclude as something quite different but it's pretty hard to find where which of the rest above start or finish. So all in all I think I should say: 1. The beginning scenes ................................................. 29 pts. altogether 2. Leland and Sarah finding out about Laura's death .......... 25 pts., by far an individual winner 3. Roadhouse fight ........................................................ 14,5 pts. (suprisingly high to me!) 4. Cooper entering the town ........................................... 13 pts. (surprisingly low to me!) 5. School finds out about Laura's death (pencil etc.) .......... 12,5 pts. (but people spoke of different moments here - from pencil breaking to principal's speech) That's top five but I think it's farir to mention no. 6 as it goes right behind: 6. Ronnette over the bridge ............................................ 11 pts. Then come the opening credits and several others. Thank you! P.S. And yet Blue Velvet top five gathered more points than the Pilot...

The bound, brutalized, half-dead girl wandering like a zombie across the bridge is a stunning image. Even as a kid when I saw it I knew this was not going to be a generic, "safe" tv event.

I just watched this on VHS courtesy of my local public library, of all places. I like the scene where James gets thrown in jail and Bobby barks like a dog, when all the sawmill machinery gets shut down, and when Audrey does the thing with the pencil in the coffee cup and then interrupts the Swedish(?) guys "she'd been merrr-derrred".

I just want to add one, my favorite: For 3 seconds, we see those enormous trees - getting a taste of that strong wind.
