I see somebody brought up the subject of where to buy the future DVD of IE in here.  Since the movie's already out, I wonder if anybody here knows whether the soundtrack will be out soon and where it will be sold.  Somebody on the IE board gave a complete listing of all the songs.

you're probably referring to me.
I found the track list in INLAND EMPIRE French Press Kit released by Mars Distribution.

Strange it doesn't have leaked everywhere ! For those who are interested in the cast and the track list, check this out. (you will have to go with Firefox though).

Is there a soundtrack recording yet?  I looked at your site and couldn't tell, but then most of it is French...

No release yet, sorry. No one planned as well. Usually, the soundtrack comes right before the film, doesn't it ?

I don't worry that much on INLAND EMPIRE ost and anyway I find it kind of unfair to listen to music separately.

The quicktime videos under "multimedia" have clips from the movie, fyi, so don't open them if you don't want sneak peeks.

DL could easily release a soundtrack CD of original music he owns the rights to via his website. The Eraserhead soundtrack and Blue Bob were both made available at davidlynch.com. Aren't soundtracks are only released beforehand to help promote the film?

I expect an album from Chrysta Bell & David Lynch sooner or later as it is usually the case with the filmmaker.

Twin Peaks (Blue Velvet, Wild at Heart) > Floating into the night / The Voice of Love

Lost Highway > Lux Vivens

Mulholland Drive > Bluebob

Yep, my assumptions seems to be true since Chrysta Bell has been signed to David Lynch's new record label, Strange World Music, according to her official website.

According to David himself there will be a IE soundtrack. He is working through the legal issues at this time. The question was posed to him at the Seattle premier of IE during the Q&A session.

Sounds cool.  Maybe if I'm lucky, the soundtrack will be released before the DVD.

The hold up has to do with the rights to the non-Lynch music, I'm sure. What would a real soundtrack be without the Penderecki, the Nina Simone, Beck & Little Eva cuts?

The soundtrack definattely needs those songs. Beck should be easy to get. It seems that polish music would be to. The question is the royalty rights of Little Eva and Etta james. Eva is dead, so there's probably some crazy estate that owns her stuff....let's pray!

This would look good on your wall.

I think the non-original soundtrack is a little too much ripe with different genres. I don't know if we are to expect that Beck and Little Eva will be included in it. I think there will be just some original pieces by Lynch and his colleagues and nothing else more. Anyway, once one has got the titles of these Beck, Penderecki etc. you only have to seek for the piece on the internet and take it for yourself, right?

Anyone know if the Nina Simone's Sinnerman edit in the final sequence is the original one or a remix?

Sinnerman is the original (& over 10 minutes long). DL alluded to having to "get the rights" to the soundtrack cuts, so I'd be pretty sure he wants to include more than just the originals.   And as a side note: Little Eva was Gerry Goffin & Carole King's babysitter BEFORE she recorded their song The Locomotion. And she never released an album, so the song is only available on anthologies.

wow, you're really something. Thanks for this info, I didn't know there was a connection with Carole King.

Carole K. wrote a hell of a lot of songs before she started singing them herself. Started back in the late '50s.  Allison Anders' Grace of My Heart is loosely based on her (as is Larraine Newman's character in American Hot Wax).

Or Grand Funk's or William Hung's or the drunk at the karaoke bar.  The original is still the best.  You wanna get Sinner Man, buy the Nina Simone 4 cd box Four Women. The last disc is her '66 lp High Priestess of Soul. which features 2 songs by budding tunesmith Angelo Badalamenti (with John Clifford)!!!

I could have totally done without the Beck cut...I wouldnt be angry if it was left out.  I didnt even like it being in the film!

Maybe Ill just scratch that part of the disc.

I loved the soundtrack.  The atmospheric music I mean - the eerie background noise which sounds almost industrial to me.  Reminded me of the soundtrack to "Eraserhead". If anyone wants to try out similar (but less powerful IMO) music, try Biosphere's "Substrata" or Robert Rich's "Stalker". Possibly even Tangerine Dream's "Phaedra" but that's altogether more up tempo compared to this dark stuff.

I could do without the Beck stuff and "The Locomotion"!

If anyone else can recommend similar stuff I'd love to hear from you!

Man, I'm sensing a bit of a "Beck-lash" here.  Not the biggest Beck fan in the universe, but I dug Black Tambourine (& couldn't fathom Eternal Sunshine sans his gorgeous cut).  As for The Locomotion, classic bit. "You GOT ta swing your hips now!!!" CLAP!
