there is a Felix Da Housecat remix which is very good however I don't think it is the one from the film as far as I can remember. I'm watching it agai tomorrow night so i'll be in a better position to tell then.

So, do you think--or does someone know--whether there will be a soundtrack?  Now I really want one!!!!!!

Well, I am a Beck fan and I thought Black Tambourine fit in just fine...

too bad The Dream Academy never did a video for Everybody's Gotta Learn Sometime because I still like their version best.

I have the same exact thing, but the quality seems slightly better.

Thanks for posting anyway. I bet somebody's still looking for it!

I'm still being optimistic; I love the music and I want the soundtrack!

Is this just a question of when rather than will there actually be a soundtrack. I haven't even seen IE yet but the prospect of a new Lynch/Badalamenti soundtrack is exciting.

No, it's IF there will be a soundtrack, due to all the legalities-and Angelo didn't participate in this one!

  Two disappointments

For those who've seen the film how does the soundtrack compare to some of the Lynch/Badalamenti ones?

It's a shame because INLAND EMPIRE is potentially one of DL's best soundtracks. I suppose the moral of the story is he should work with professionals with recording contracts and the clout to get things released rather than working with friends and then finding out the music's going to be tied up in red tape for all time.

I wasn't happy when I found out Angelo Badalamenti hadn't written the score, but the music from IE was amazing. Polish Poem, Ghost of Love, Beck's Black Tambourine...

I guess it makes for a reason for multiple viewing...but I like to hear the songs in full, yeah.

The sound wind makes through the pines. The sentience of animals. What we fear and what lies beyond the darkness.

I agree with the fact that the music was amazing.  I'm still hoping maybe we'll have a soundtrack, just without some of the music.  I'm sure David owns the rights to the songs like "Ghost of Love" and a lot of the background music.  It's as good as any of the Badalamenti scores.

Badalamenti was sort of involved... if you watch the credits he composed several pieces of music in the film... I was surprised at how great this soundtrack was as well. Though not quite as good as Badalamenti's best work (Blue Velvet, FWWM), it definitely compared to a lot of his soundtracks... I doubt I would have realized he didn't do it if I hadn't already heard it before I saw the film.

That god damn trailer's more popular than Uncle's Day in a whorehouse!

It seems that soundtracks, especially consistently brilliant ones like Badalamenti's seem to enrich the film greatly but only by listening to it as a OST will you realise the true masterpiece that it is.

Btw, just realised that you can download some of Penderecki's pieces on iTunes

I sort of assembled the things I already had with new things I ripped from the dvd. Not to be a flown, but I believe I'm the first person here, if not in the whole globe, to be able to share a wonderful reproduction of "Polish poem" taken directly from the dvd and with the dialogues cut out!

You can take it all! You can also decide if you just want to listen to it or if you want to download.

http://www.4shared.com/dir/3193012/e197e49/Inland_Empire_music.html

For those who are skeptical, here is the list of music pieces I'm sharing on 4share.com :

Beck "Black tambourine" - original

David Lynch & Christa Bell "Polish poem" - DVD rip, just the music no dialogues perfect quality imo

David Lynch "Ghost of love" - the well-known crappy version

Etta James "At last" - original

"De Natura Sonoris n. 1" "De Natura Sonoris n. 2" Krzystof Penderecki - original, full length

Little Eva "The Loco-Motion" - original

Nina Simone "Sinnerman" - the traditional one, not the remix

When I'll have more time, I'll try to update the archive with a better "Ghost of love" quality.

If any of you wants me to try rip some other pieces from the movie, just tell me the points where they can be heard and I'll try to figure something out.

I would like to say that I'm not doing nothing illegal in my country because I'm using an original legally purchased DVD of "Inland Empire" and I can do anything I want with it if it's nonprofit.

Silencio, I would never accuse you of being one, but what IS a "flown"?  In English, it's the past tense of fly.

Hey, thanks, silencio!  I had no idea that IE was already released in Italy.  In the US, we don't get it until the end of August.

Well, since I can't get rid of this post, I'll edit.  I think downloading copyrighted material is illegal in the US, even for nonprofit reasons.  I need to ask around, but is really nice of you to offer.

I admire your optimism, but I'm fairly sure that Italy is subject to the same laws preventing re-distribution of copyrighted material as the rest of the EEC - regardless of whether you intend to profit from it or not. Read the warning which appears after the credits have finished rolling on the DVD, and you'll see what I mean.

Has he taken his eyes off it yet?

Only 6 of those songs aren't available on iTunes. I kind of don't want to download them though because if the IE soundtrack does come out I probably won't buy it.

Penderecki keeps coming up in conversation lately.  Coincidence and fate, I guess.  Can't wait for this soundtrack.
