I'm trying to arrange a trip to New York on October 6-8, and if possible I'm going to arrange to see INLAND EMPIRE at the New York Film Festival. Is there anyone here in or around New York City who will be doing likewise?

I'm going to Michigan but what a treat it would be to spend the first week of October in New York with JVSCant! Oh, and to sit through 172 minutes of INLAND EMPIRE. (all caps) I look forward to your review of the movie but am I ever envious over spending some fall days in the Big Apple!!! Sounds like the East Coast trip that can't be missed this year. Susan

Well, the West Coast trip in July couldn't be missed either, but I managed to miss it! Regardless, I'm on my way out to get photos taken for my passport application. :) | QUOTE: I'm going to Michigan but what a treat it would be to spend the first week of October in New York with JVSCant!

Any more of that stuff, Susan, and I'm hiring you as my agent.

Oh, man, way to make me feel remorse! JVS and B! I'm sure my mother would understand if I caught up with her next October... Susan

For details on the 44th New York Film Festival, go to http://filmlinc.com/nyff/nyff.htm Tickets will available to the public on September 10th online; IF you live in NYC (does that include anybody in here?) it tells you where to go in person. And bring back some details!

There has to be a way to buy tickets online, right? Most film festivals do that these days.

Just booked our room at the Westin Times Square. My plan is to be online ready to hit ENTER to buy my tix at 8:59 PM PST Saturday the 9th. It says tickets go on sale the 10th so I am going to assume that at the stroke of midnight I should be able to buy the tix. We'll see, gonna do more research, if anyone else knows any different let us know! NYFF here we come!

I envy you, Rabid Muse, wish I could go! Non of those naysayers will get me down. What have we all been saying for years, "We want INLAND EMPIRE!" So now, hopefully, we've got it. (I pray it doesn't take forever to come out on DVD/or hit art theaters in the US.) Other guys, look at my Sept. 4 post; it tells you how to get tickets.

I just checked and airfare round trip is around $200...I will see if I can find something in the form of a discounted room through work; we get free rooms sometimes or discounted if the availability ain't too great...This is totally doable if I can get those two weekend shifts covered. I'll get back to the interested parties once I find out about the rooms...

I tried to get tickets but this dude there said it would be unlikely I could get tickets at this point unless I make a big donation. People that have been members longest have priority. Here is his reply to my email: There are 72 tickets left to the screening on October 8th and there are many orders from members in front of you. So, I highly doubt you would get those tickets. The screening on the 9th at 1130 has more tickets available - about 300 at this point. Again though, if you joined at a lower level, there is no guarantee that you would get tickets. The box office is filling in the order that they receive orders and by priority ($1000 members and 10-year members). You can join at the $75 level and try but there is no guarantee. If you joined, I would email you the order forms which you would fax to the box office.
If you joined as a donor ($2500-$25000), there is obviously a higher chance of getting tickets.
What you got back home little sister to play your fuzzy warbles on? I bet you got, say, pitiful, portable picnic players. Come with uncle and hear all proper! Hear angels' trumpets and devils' trombones. You are invited!

Just got the big veto from my wife..."too much to spend just to see a movie." She likes DL, but not that much. Now if was Desperate Housewives or Sex in the City...heh we'd be there. *sigh* Most heartbroken right now. I live in North Bend...Oregon that is...on the coast. We probably won't see it here. Hopefully it'll come to Portland or Seattle. Until then, I'm a very very depressed soul.
