For all those living in Melbourne, Australia, there will be a mini David Lynch festival at the ACMI cinemas in October as part of Melbourne Cinematheque. The schedule is not online yet, but you can find flyers for it in all stores that stock street press.
Wednesday October 4 7pm Eraserhead 8.50pm Lost Highway
Wednesday October 11 7pm The Straight Story 9.05pm Blue Velvet
Wednesday October 18 7pm The Short Films 8.50pm Mulholland Drive
Plus there's a whole lot of other interesting movies on in the months around October.
I can't wait to see Ersaerhead at ACMI, although I wished it screened later!

DELROY LINDO's gonna be at this bash?! I love him. Particularly his work with Spike Lee. But what does he have to do with David Lynch? Ohhhh...

Saw Eraserhead, Fire Walk With Me, Lost Highway, Mulholland Drive and lately (2 months ago)went to see Inland Empire... I think the best experience for me was Eraserhead, alone, at a midnight screening, in a small "repertoire" cinema where you're not allowed to eat or drink. I don't know why, it really got me that night, I was about 19 or so. I find myself having trouble sometimes with the jumpy image. The size of the image amplifies movement and sometimes I have trouble getting into the story because the edges are too shaky. But overall, that's the way films should be watched. DVDs are but a convenience.

Eraserhead - at the Repertory Cinema in Cincinnati sometime in 1989 The Elephant Man & Dune - nunca Blue Velvet - twice - both times at the Repertory Cinema, one in '90 and once in '92 Wild at Heart - 3 times at the Repertory cinema Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me - 4 times in various locations throughout Cincinnati, including a free ticket to a sneak preview two nights before full release. Lost Highway, The Straight Story & Mulholland Drive - nunca (but I remain hopeful living in Chicago, Music Box Theater showed MD a week before the Inland Empire release at midngiht) Inland Empire - 3 times at Music Box Theater, Chicago, including opening night (not when Lynch was there though)

Seen Blue Velvet numerous times, the best being last summer on an outdoor screen in Hyde Park - sound was incredibly loud, which really helped. Hearing In Dreams pumped out across one of the biggest parks in London was an experience I'll never forget. Saw WAH, FWWM, Lost Highway, Mulholland and INLAND EMPIRE on big screens, several times in some cases. Of course, my favourite was the UK premiere of INLAND, with Lynch taking questions afterwards. They showed a few choice scenes from his earlier films during the question time. As he was sitting on stage, his unmistakable silhouette was projected onto the screen at the same time as the scenes. Seeing Lynch's silhouette over a screen playing the garmonbozia scene from FWWM was one of the coolest things I've ever seen
Has he taken his eyes off it yet?

Can this summer get any better? My chance to see Lost Highway, Mulholland Drive, The Straight Story and The Elephant Man in the theater...yeah, I'll probably go see Inland Empire...I just got this link from my friend Maureen, unfortunately Blue Velvet and FWWM have passed but on the bright side I've seen them both 6 times collectively... http://www.artic.edu/webspaces/siskelfilmcenter/2007/july/2.html

I've only been to see Mulholland Dr. and Inland Empire in theaters... once each. But considering I'm only eighteen and all I'd seen by Lynch until a year and a half ago were Twin Peaks Season 1 and Straight Story, I suppose that's not too shabby.

I got to see The Elephant Man back in the day and have seen everything in the theater since. The biggest thrill so far is Mulholland Drive with Naomi Watts and Richard Greene in the audience and Inland Empire with David Lynch in the audience. Oh what a wonderful world.

heading downtown in ten minutes to go see The Straight Story on ze big screen... update: Wow! That was really cool getting the opportunity to see that film in that format and I must say the Leone-esque closeups gave me a whole new appreciation of Richard Farnsworth's great performance...then a little martini action and some prime rib at Miller's made for an excellent afternoon out in Chi-town. Next stop: Wednesday night, Inland Empire...

I saw FWWM, Lost Highway, The Straight Story, and Mulholland Drive in the theaters when they opened....that's all.
