What was with this? The guy that Bobby shot it FWWM was the cop whose nose Chet Desmond broke in Deer Meadows. Was this some kind of plan to crack down on drug dealers? What was he doing in Twin Peaks? How come nobody comes looking for him (or how did no one find an only barely buried body?). This is only mentioned in the pilot, and then way later in the movie. Did James just forget about this? How come he didn't tell the cops?

Good questions! I don't know the answer but I have to say that this is one of my favorite scenes. I just love it! I should say, the scene where he shoots the guy not when Laura tells James, but yeah, you would think that he would mention this to the police.

I didn't really like that scene... I just want to know what it means. It's really frustrating and disjointed and inconsistent with the series. But to each his own. I am proud though that I recognized the cop from Deer Meadows right away though.

"Did James just forget about this? How come he didn't tell the cops? " Do you think James knows in which world he lives?I think James even doesn't know who he is.Very weak character!
Beware of BOB

When I call out no one can hear me,when I whisper he thinks the message is for him only..my little voice inside my throat,I always think there must be something that I've done or something I can do...But no one no one comes to help,he says,a little girl like you...

To avoid LOL.... let's just say that was very funny. I agree. Though James is not my least favorite character, I have always felt he is the weakest and added the least to the show (with the possible exception of Mr. Pinkle and Bernard...of the eps I have seen so far). He's so boring and has terrible dialogue, not like Twin Peaks at all. However, I feel that Lynch is really making fun of James, and the stereotype he represents. Perhaps his dialogue is intentionallhy bad.... an interesting thought.... PS: Donna deserves someone much better.... someone like Cooper....

I think the idea or subplot of Bobby shooting someone was considered and discarded in the series... They tell us that, that he killed someone, in the Pilot so that we think that this rebel yet not dangerous kid was worst than we thought and maybe they had in mind to solve that mystery later... The series progressed and that was forgotten and when FWWM arrived Lynch felt it was time to explain who was the guy murdered, so he decided to add Cliff and a drug transaction gone wrong... That's all... James doesn't tell anything and the body is not found, because they 'forgot' about that during the series, like they 'forgot' to explain more things about Lydecker or left ambiguous the references to the mystery man in Laura's tapes. It was in FWWM when everything was explained... But yes, some would say (and I agree) that we must consider the whole thing as one single entity and as such it is possible that James didn't tell anything because he's an idiot or better because that was something he felt the cops didn't need to know (remember that he and the silly brunettes began their own investigation). And the body was not found because Bobby (with Laura's help or not) buried him deeply later, even if we don't see him doing that... What is really interesting about that scene is if Jacques wanted to get rid of Bobby, if Cliff was acting as a cop there or as a drug dealer and if that was baby laxative like the one found in Dead Dog Farm... Things related to the drug subplot that tie nicely with the series...

(sigh) I had a feeling that was the answer... but I can't help but think about Twin Peaks. As much as I try to tell myself that they forgot about many sublots, and that much of it is meaningless I can't really believe it.

Hey! Jacoby! I can't believe you didn't mention what I'm about to say: Apparently Laura (drugged or drunk or something) says: "You shot Mike!" And the bastard (Bobby) replies: "That's not Mike" Laura asks: "It's not?" My psychiatrist here told me once (I guess he forgot) that the drug dealer/cop/whatever could have been posessed by Mike, and that the OAM or Mike was going after Bobby because his name is similar to BOB's. It doesn't make much sense, but not much in FWWM does.
I have many different tasks, but the one that most interests me is the study of UFO's.

Ok first you posted twice. Secondly you haven't even seen FWWM and got that wrong! Laura says "You shot Mike" while hysterical, and Bobby says "This isn't F-in Mike!.... Is this Mike?" Also the OAM was possessing Philip Michael Gerard at the time. I think Laura thought that Cliff was Mike Nelson (since she was coked up).

The intriguing thing about that scene is not that Laura thinks that's Mike, she's in a state where it'd be understandable to even think that was her mom, or Pee Wee Herman... What is intriguing is that Bobby considers for a moment if that is Mike....

Yeah I've wondered about that too. The only conclusion I can think of is maybe Bobby was as high as Laura, but then he doesn't seem it beforehand. By the way, Laura actually says "Bobby, you killed Mike", (not "you shot Mike"). (Before breaking down into that described as pee-wee Herman hysteria! heh.) It has been suggested and theorised by some in the past that maybe Bobby and Mike are a younger version of BOB and Mike. But I think that's too complicated to even comprehend. Doesn't make it impossible of course, but my brain is not in the "deep theory" type of mood today...

In his usual Gordo fashion, he has succinctly stated exactly how I feel about the whole drug deal gone bad and how it tried to tie up dangling plot ideas from the pilot. Well done.

Both Mike and Cliff have reddish hair. That's enough to make someone mix the persons for a moment. Especially when that someone is high on drugs.

Bobby was upset, and confused. He's trying to wrap his mind around what happened. Laura laughing hysterically and saying that he shot... excuse me killed (starting to sound like my brother...) Mike did not help. I think that he was so freaked out that he thought he might have for a second. Also I think we have to take Coop's word on it that it was a "different BOB and a different Mike). As a side note in the original FWWM script there's a season where Bobby finds out that the "cocaine" they got from Cliff was actually laxative... he must have been trying to crack down on drug dealers or something...

he must have been trying to crack down on drug dealers or something... | That's why he had a spot in the trailer park. He was on to Teresa I guess.
