So who's heard the new DL album? Thoughts?

I just finished listening to it and can say I am pleasantly surprised. I was decidedly unimpressed with 'Good Day Today', and while that track is featured it's not representative of the overall sound. Most of the tracks are more like the slow bluesy shuffling of BLUE BOB (with the new vocoder-ed vocals). It's quite a long album and there are definitely duff tracks (title track unexcepted) but there are enough good ones too. I keep on seeing this referred to as Lynch's 'debut' album, but when you think of all the music projects he's been involved in (Twin Peaks CDs, Julee Cruise albums, Blue Bob, Fox Bat Strategy, Air is on Fire, Lux Vivens etc.) he should be experienced enough in the music world, if not necessarily in performance. It's definitely not the best album he's been involved in, but worth a listen I would say.

I expected this would be a 100% techno/electronic album (something I'm allergic to).

Still, I think it's rubbish compared to the bulk of his filmography.

First album released under his name, but, yeah, he's been working in the music field to some degree since the late '80s. Only head it once, but I'm guessing it'll grow on me. Wish he'd find more singers, as he's not confident in his own vocals to release them untreated.  Rebekah del Rio is finally releasing a new album (for download only) & it has the longed for Neff/Lynch song No Stars!!!

Yeah, more guest singers would be much better. The first song with Karen O is a highlight. The Lynch vocals are quite otherwordly and atmospheric but it's hard to endure them over a whole album. I guess he really wanted this to be his album and to take the front seat, rather than this be another one of the collaborations he has done many times before but it's definitely to the detriment of the album.

Album just got a positive review on NPR. From the clips I heard, sounds like something I should check out but I have a feeling that it would make hard listening to all the way through becuase of DL vocals.

Nice one, just listening to it on Spotify and really enjoying it. Somehow this went under my radar when it was released (it hardly seems to have been publicised on the internet).

I was expecting electronic music on the basis of previewing the track Good Day Today(?) a while ago.

After hearing the whole album courtesy of an illegal download, I said I consider it rubbish compared to the bulk of his filmography. It's not rubbish per se.

Rubbish is in the bin of the beholder. Personally, I quite like it.

I buy all the music I consider part of my collection legally on old fashioned CDs to listen to on my decent enough audio equipment. I loath mp3s, but I'm so very particular in what I like I often download a sample from torrent sites to prevent disappointment. This is helpful in discovering new artists and making right decisions. I'm no longer a completist who has to own every record ever released by a favorite artist.

Most movies and tv series aren't worth the price of a movie ticket or tv subsricption, so I download them, though not as much as I used to. BBC natural history shows I buy in a heartbeat.

I buy all my stuff off of amazon or at used/second hand stores or carboot sakes for next to nothing....

music and movie wise... well, hmv still has a good selection in doesn't it,but why pay top whack for something when you can just buy it used-like New off amazon for a 1/3rd or quarter of the price...

how's your leg... are you managing to keep that 'naughty dog' at bay then...

(it probably views itself as the man of the house)

if you don't have one already !!!!!

The thing about the dog was obviously meant as a joke.

Unlike your uncle Berty, the Midlands sheep bugger.

A castrated dog is a good dog...

Think of one,if your a gene and you live alone...the dog probably views itself ad the man and master of the house...(unless you 'take charge' with them early on)

That's how dogs are ...

hey,there's nothing going on there,is there ???

(stranger things have happened at sea)

You little scallywag !!!!!

Are you closer to leaving this place [quote]"in great pain and with anger in your heart (lol)" already? I'm trying to help you out here.

Doesn't the mental institution have a message board on their intranet where fucktards like yourself can spam the place to their heart's content without bothering normal taxpaying people?
