I used to be pretty obsessed with MD, to the point of it being basically my favorite film, period, but lately I've begun to cool down on it. Specifically, a recent viewing really kind of underwhelmed me and I couldn't help but see some of its flaws. I'm afraid that the TV pilot origin creeps in too much, leading to a product that is very oddly structured and just overall something where the parts are definitely stronger than the whole. When the film cuts from Betty doing Rita's hair after seeing the corpse to Betty lying in bed at night, it's very clear that that's where the pilot ended and the feature film started. I still think it's a great film, but I just can't praise it like I used to. LH on the other hand continues to amaze me with every viewing (at least a dozen now). It may be more "cold", emotionally, compared to MD, but it's all so fascinating and masterfully crafted (the cinematography is the most gorgeous of any Lynch film IMO) that I don't mind. I'll agree with the popular opinion that the first 40-ish minutes of Fred and Renee are superior to what follows with Pete/Alice, but I still think the latter portion is outstanding. All in all it's just one of those films I can't see myself ever getting sick of watching, because I don't think there is a final "solution" to it. In contrast, MD (at least to me) is fairly simple to crack and doesn't leave a whole lot to ponder over. What do you guys think?

If you want to revive your fascination with MH again, check out Alan Shaw's breakdown of all the mh/wizard of oz parallels....it's a long one,but well worth it.Watching MH after this was a whole new experience! There are other mulholland/wizard articles,if you will, but this is by far the most in depth.

Pretty hard to choose, they're both good but I still prefer Mullholland Drive. I love the whole Club Silencio and I think there are some clues that I haven't figured out yet. Not to detract from LH of course, I'm more interested with the Renee/Alice character/s and the Mystery Man than I am with Pete or Fred.

I think Muholland Drive works quite well with the two young girls filling out the lead roles in it... they're both quite likeable down to earth girls that are pretty easy Im the eye aren't they... I haven't seen lost highway for a good few years now....

Muholland Drive is a bit more glamorous and upbeat, isn't it.... (even though there are still 'dark chasms' in it)
lost highways a bit of a miserable git, isn't it.... (lol) as I remember it !!!!!
