I know there's a similar thread but I'm in a hurry so I'll just jot this quick note >>HERE<<. Okay so I think that the "laura" in Cooper's dream might have been a new lodge inhabitant or some sort of transmigration of Laura's soul/persona. I think when she died, she became this other person (i.e. in Twin Peaks she is Laura Palmer but in the Lodge/Red Room she is MFAP's cousin). Idk I would love for a TP officiando to clarify this for me.

I think you are right and that other persona might be Judy, even if Lynch and Frost probably didn't think of that name early in the show.
Why does MFAP call her his cousin? I have a theory but maybe it's a bit far out: you can think of MFAP as a sort of child of Mike. Mike and BOB were partners or "brothers", and Laura is the child of Leland who's inhabited by BOB. So in that sense, MFAP and (the soul of) Laura are cousins.

That's possible, but I tend to think of it as also a likely premonition (in Cooper's dream) of the arrival of Laura's actual cousin, Maddy. Remember, the "Invitation to Love" show had already begun before she arrived, as had the sisters Jade and Emerald. Coop's dream happened in Ep.3 and Maddy tuns up looking "exactly like Laura Palmer" in the next episode. Not saying that's definite, but I always think that version makes most sense. Yes I know David Lynch doesn't always make sense.

I had forgotten about Maddy :P That makes a lot of sense connecting the two together (if I'm reading the same as you are) I can figure TMFAP role playing as "Laura" and Laura roleplaying as "Maddy".

It's also interesting to note that (roleplaying Maddy and Laura) in the black lodge again, in ep. 29. BOTH are wearing the same dress, the Maddy ghost Coop sees has dopp eyes (which you don't know until you see the close up photos). Prior to that you'd think she was good. It always interests me how she says "watch out for my cousin" just before dopp Laura's appearance and Maddy's disappearance. I've heard ppl say before that they think the Dopp Laura is Maddy (hence the bad wig ;)). It is possible, how else does she lknow Laura is going to reappear in evil guise.
