I don't expect that I am the first to notice this, but I thought I'd mention it all the same. I couldn't see after searching the database whether or not it had been brought up before. In the TP Pilot Euro version (anyone who doesn't have access, as I don't, can do so at this address: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ue-PwHC6oPQ&feature=related) Sarah is sitting on the sofa in her living room tracing back over her memories of the day Laura went missing. The moment after she suddenly recalls that she actually saw B in Laura's bedroom, B, I believe can also be seen at the bottom of the mirror behind Sarah. I wasn't sure at first whether it was even a person but then the head turns at just before the end of the cut. Looks to me like Bob anyhow. Any one able to confirm whether this is true.

Also, as well as the European pilot I don't have the US pilot (lent it to a colleague, since moved on, who never returned it - yes, when I see you ..), does this face, that I think is the face B, appear in both pilots?

You know what, I've been on and off this message board for a few years now, and thinking back I seem to remember this all being mentioned before. Sorry if I am repeating something old.

Beauty is momentary in the mind -
The fitful tracing of a portal;
But in the flesh it is immortal.
The body dies; the body's beauty lives.
So evenings die, in their green going,
A wave, interminably flowing.
So gardens die, their meek breath scenting
the cowl of winter, done repenting.
So maidens die, to the auroral
Celebration of a maiden's choral.
Susanna's music touched the bawdy strings
Of those white elders; but, escaping,
Left only Death's ironic scraping.
Now in its immortality, it plays
On the clear viol of her memory,
And makes a constant sacrement of praise.

I remeber seeing Lynch talk about the person in the miror, it's really BOB. Actually the actor was caught in the miror by mistake, but Lynch decided to keep it the way it was shot.

Yeah that sounds right. Thanks for jogging my memory. As I say, on reflection, I seem to remember it being discussed before. Thanks, for clearing it up for me. Funny coincidence then, huh?

theres a little bit more to the story. frank silva was orginally a set dresser on the pilot. he was arranging laura's bedroom, lynch was standing underneath the ceiling fan, and some yelled to frank, "dont lock yourself in there". and so the story goes that lynch was automatically struck by the image of frank kneeling at the bottom of the bed. so they shot it, but they didnt know what they were going to do with it. then theyre shooting the sarah scene you mention, and the set up, grace zabriske nails it on the first take, lynch yells out "Perfect!" and then an AD or other crew member said "no, not perfect. someone was reflected in the mirror." when told it was frank, supposedly thats when the idea for BOB was born. random fact: BOB's wardrobe, the denim jeans and jacket were was he was wearing on the set while working that day in laura's room. they probably made an alternate costume, but the way he was dressed that day became his costume for BOB.
and yes, the face is in both pilots. the american one ends with the scream and the gloved hand taking the heart necklace out of the ground. the only difference between the pilots is the 15 min. after that(some of which was then used in ep. 2).

Thanks for your post JFK. A little bit of history I wasn't familiar with. Serendipitous.
