Hey all, was just watching ep 26 last night and then I realised something that had challenged my assumptions about Annie- when she is explaining her past to Cooper on the boat: I always assumed that she had self harmed due to being dumped by a guy in high school because she was a fairly one dimensional 'emo' character who had to have some, ANY explanation (in a character sense) for the scars she had een given by the writers. Only last night rewatching it occured to me: was Annie raped in high school, prompting her depression and self harm? It had never occured to me before, and I was shocked that it had never crossed my mind. It makes her character seem like more of a character than a cypher, plus it ties into overall Twin Peaks themes (sexual abuse by those we trust etc) The reason i think i had never thought of it before was due to viewing her as a mostly shallow character cooked up at the last minute with a sketchy at best back story (Not that a person having been raped in their past makes them any more interesting or endearing, i mean from a fictional stand point in light of the weaknesses of season 2 ). Was this part of her backstory obvious to everyone and I've been sitting here in the dark??

Nah, I've never had that impression... In my opinion she was simply dumped and overreacted...
