I've been with my fiancé now for five years, and after hearing me and friends incessantly chat about Twin Peaks for most of that time she has finally bowed to pressure and began watching it last night. We got to episode 2 before she began getting tired, but she loved it and wants to carry on watching tonight.

Unfortunately because of these damn Channel 4 "100 Scariest Moments in TV" shows, she knows a fair few of the mysteries' conclusions. First and foremost the WKLP one. Which is a bit of a bastard, but she knows nothing about the lodges and has been asking tonnes of questions after the first couple of episodes, particularly concerning the relationships between characters and the Packard Sawmill twists and turns. It's great seeing someone watching it for the first time.

She did crack up at some of the hairstyles and characters in the pilot, but thought they all looked great as soon as episode 1 began. Haha. And if other females on the board can shed light on this... she kept going on about Audrey's shoes in every single scene she was in. SHUT UP!! Hahaha. She is a fashion freak.

Anyway, i was wondering. Has anyone else been introducing family or friends to TP lately? Maybe even found out people are into the show and you weren't aware? Sounds goofy, but it's a great thing to discover.

Have a great weekend. :)

Unfortunately no-one shares my obsession.  My Mum hates Lynch, my sister liked Blue Velvet a while ago but then for some reason decided she hated it.  So yeah, cave mammals don't eat carrot flavoured sausages from sticks anymore when the moon is up NO-SIREE.

There was a fiish..iinn the percolatrr!

Tried to get my husband into it last year - he LIKES it but that's not good enough for me, he should LOVE it :-(

He likes Lynch but always tries to analyse it too much - why did that kid moonwalk through the hall, why didn't Coop shout at Senor Droolcup when he wouldnt call an ambulance, why this why that...he won't accept that in Lynchland, some things just are, and thats that!

He likes Blue Velvet, Elephant Man and Straight Story...TP he was ok-ish with, FWWM he thought was too  sad and freaked out about the David Bowie stuff, and Mulholland Drive?   I have never been asked why so m,uch in my entire life!   He liked the Cowboy though.

All my friends and family think Peaks is stupid, Hubby's reception was lukewarm...bah, they don't know what they are missing.

To the OP, regarding Audrey's shoes - I totally get what your Fiancee means!!!   Audrey has amazing style. those saddle shoes are really retro and almost fetishistic, although they wouldnt be my thing...but the red high heels...amazing!   I'm into the Burlesque scene and I channel the Audrey vibe in some of my performances.

I am fairly new to Peaks. I watched it first time in 2007 when it was rerun in Finnish television. Still I've managed to show it on DVD (I instantly bought the gold box when it got out) to at least 20 people and therefore I've watched fair amount of it myself. But it's almost as exciting to watch it again with someone new to the show as it was when I saw it the first time.

One of the greatest was when I was in Finnish military service in 2009 (in Finland we have compulsory military service which can be replaced with some civil labour, but still most common choice is military service) and there was 19 guys in our platoon and I really managed to get 12 of them addicted to the series. So there was 2 months period when we used all of our spare time and watched with 13 people group (me included) the whole series trough. And when we were in training or doing some war-practise in the woods where we had much guarding shifts in pairs, we talked about the series all the time.

That's really one of those moments in life that were great and has now passed by and I'm really afraid that I wont ever experience anything just like it.

...oh and by the way, man was those woods scary in the middle of the night after talking about the series. Just the woods, the darkness and the wind blowing the trees :)

My husband figured out the killer upon viewing the first episode! He had never watched it before, and knew nothing about the plot. He said he could tell by the way Leland acted that there was something creepy going on. He still watches with me from time to time, but he doesn't love it the way I do... SIGH.

I'm actually going to take my dvd's up to a friend's house and see if i can get another 1 of my friend's to like the show.
