I don't know the purpose of The Red Room 'shadow(s)' but I can tell you that it was also shown/reproduced in a very similar way during a scene in...Lost Highway @ Fred's house.

Hrmm... I wonder why. maybe an Owl? I'm still thinking about how the owls tied in, was Bob jumping into owls or owls some kind of watcher for the black lodge? Do you think the white and black lodge were the same place btw? But fear made the black portion open for dale?
