Have you ever done it? Like listened to the Mulholland Drive soundtrack and think; "This sounds like it would make a perfect second theme for (insert TP character here)?". Since getting into Twin Peaks I have been adamantly searching for more of Angelo Badalamenti's music, which makes me ever more grateful that I stepped out of my Nobuo Uematsu/Akira Yamaoka music-only box years ago I did a search and found out that Badalamenti provided the scores for several films that I have already seen and enjoyed (most likely for the music).

  • Nightmare on Elm Street 3
  • Blue Velvet
  • Twin Peaks
  • The Comfort of Strangers
  • Wicked Game
  • The City of Lost Children
  • Arlington Road
  • Secretary
  • Cabin Fever
  • Dark Water
  • The Wicker Man
  • The Lost Highway

Does anyone else think that you could easily swap and switch some of the various Badalamenti songs with Twin Peaks? I personally think Red Bats with Teeth would work well as a second "One-eyed Jack's theme" since it sounds boisterous and raunchy and the Mulholland Drive theme itself sounds like it could be a second Twin Peaks/Laura Palmer theme since it sounds kind of depressing and dim, and has a similar feel to it as Dark Mood Woods/The Red Room.

To be honest with you, I'd say he hasn't done anything that surpasses the soundtrack for TP.  Except perhaps the Mulholland Dr.  soundtrack, which comes close to perfection.

Have you ever played the game Fahrenheit/Indigo Prophecy? The music is actually done by Badalamenti, although it consists mostly of solemn cello melodies.

Does anyone know what kind of Jazz the FWWM soundtrack consists of anyway? It's more low-key and slow than the stuff I can find.

I'm not really sure that jazz is the right genre for Twin Peaks music. Maybe something like dark ambient jazz. Film and TV scores are really hard to categorise like that for some reason.
