So....did Deputy Hawk know what Cooper saw, to be more specific did Hawk know that Cooper was going to bring up the Black Lodge? I have been watching the entire series reruns on the CI channel Tuesday nights since episode 01 and I was wondering why he ended that conversation so abrubptly? Was it because talking of the Black Lodge is taboo to his people or was it like BOB or the owls will know that you're talking about them and will possess you like Laura and Leland?

Also I was wondering if anyone who has access to any behind the scenes books, character bios etc could shed a little more light on Josie's fate? I know that her physical body is dead, but what about her soul, was the ending of episode 25 (when her face morphs out of the bedside table) to imply that somehow her soul is trapped in the Great Northern Hotel or was that her trying to communicate from beyond the lodge? I was wondering if BOB or specifically the MFAP had anything to do with it since her autopsy did not show any signs of how she died and the two appeared after she died one after the other.

Thoughts? Input?

It's just cos generally he knew that wacky stuff has been going on (Leland/Bob, Major Briggs) and so this is the latest in a line of weirdness, so it's rather frightening, so it's best at this moment not to talk about Josie, since she has recently passed under these odd circumstances, and for Harry's sake. It's like "let's leave this one lie for the moment, and not speculate on the dead.."

As for her death, f*ck knows

I've mention this many times on other threads here about Josie's death.Of course BOB killed her - TMFAP was there to usher in BOB's essence/spirit to give her a heart attack so he (BOB) could take her soul. That's why her body was so light (weight) after her death. The reason is obvious - she tried to kill Cooper (she shot him). Same thing happened when Windom Earl tried to kill Cooper by stabbing him. Obviously you don't mess with BOB's plans to possess Cooper.

And another thing - BOB is a very funny guy - he trapped Josie's soul/essence in a drawknob, just like he trapped the log lady's dead husband in a log that she carries around. Very funny guy - I guess BOB has a thing for wood.

i don't think talking about the Lodge was taboo for him, or that he was concerned that the owls/BOB would hear them talking. i think Hawk was (unfortunately) a secondary character who just wasn't given a whole lot to say, for the most part. that character was supposed to be the 'man of few words' type (something that's given me no small amount of grief when attempting to write Hawk fanfic, but that's neither here or there).

i've got some of the behind-the-scenes books (Laura's diary, Cooper's diary, the Access Guide to TP) and I haven't yet found anything in any of those books concerning Josie. If you can get your hands on Full of Secrets, there might be something in there that touches on it...

Er, would you like some lemonade? I also have some saltines and some apple butter. Or would you like to wash your hands?

Is Full of Secrets another diary/behind the scenes guide? Maybe I could check on Amazon or EBay...?

i haven't gotten my hands on a copy yet, but basically it's TP essays written by people with Ph.Ds. I got part of it through interlibrary loan and I believe I saw a section on the Martell/Packard storyline. You can get a used copy on Amazon for around $20 I think.

Yeah, but be warned, it's not straight up plot theories, 'What is the black lodge etc etc' ...It's more like literery theory takes on it, feminist readings of it etc

Oh I see so it is really more like college papers/essays on specific topics from the show; basically just a viewer's POV of the events that took place?

Something like that.  You can look it up on Amazon, just plug in the title.  There are numerous user reviews if you scroll down.  They range from, "Genius!" to "Psychobabble BS."  I'm going to pass on this one...
