I'm watching Fire Walk With Me tonight, the anniversary of Laura's death, but atm I'm listening to the soundtrack, and I'm on one of my favourite tracks, "A Real Indication" by Thought Gang...but what about Thought Gang?  I can't find anything else by them, I've looked all over.  Anyone have any links or info?

It's such a cool song. It is impossible to find anything on the internet.

There is a British band named Thought Gang also.

The FWWM sleeve notes credit everyone who wrote, sang and played on A Real Indication and The Black Dog Runs At Night. The lyrics are by David Lynch and the music and vocals are by Angelo Badalamenti.

There's a video for A Real Indication on the Mystery disc from The Lime Green set.

I had a look for the video on the net/web/online (I loathe all those phrases and fear this may be a personality disorder in the making) but, alas, my attempts were thwarted. I did however find a 'How To Speak Hip' download which enables one to speak like a beat poet. It's downloading as I write.

I'm guessing the reason the Lime Green Set hasn't been ripped, trimmed into bite-sized chunks and scattered across the digital world like confetti is because only four people bought it! I can take some screen grabs? Okay it's not the same, but it's better than a poke in the eye, as my Nana used to say.

If you Google* the Cooper tape you should be able to download it. I wish they'd release it on CD. I suspect my cassette has probably disintegrated.

* other search engines are available

This thread puts me in mind of those peculiar women who write letters to serial killers. If you substitute 'super fan' for 'victim' and 'Lime Green Set/Dale Cooper tapes' for 'kidnapped and eaten'....

And you only registered with the board six months ago. I wouldn't have thought I'd posted enough in the last six months for you to form an opinion but people do like their opinions. Imagine how much you'll hate me this time next year! I jest...

I agree. They're the ones I skip over on the FWWM album.

I'd much prefer to find some more stuff by Rubber City (DL and David Slusser according to the credits) who contributed the amazing Perdita and Dark Spanish Symphony [50s version] to the Wild at Heart soundtrack.

There's a Rubber City CD here by Slusser and Ralph Carney: http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/slusser

It's all improvisational jazz. It's decent, but quite hard to listen to. Nothing approaching the beauty of the WaH tracks, but I guess Badalamenti was heavily involved with those tracks.

The Black Dog Runs At Night is pretty lame and pointless i know, but how anyone can say A Real Indication is crap is beyond me. That song is all kinds of awesome. Horses for courses i suppose...

All it was was the line "the black dog runs at night" repeated over the course of the song in escalating pitches, not exactly a grammy winning performance imo.

To be fair the Fire Walk With Me soundtrack is... you know... a soundtrack. The Black Dog Runs At Night might not be pretty but it works beautifully in the context of the film.

Was it possible that some of the songs from FWWM were used in the series (it happens sometimes when a composer uses selected pieces of music before the other project but created them at the same time) specifically the sad piece that plays when Catherine tells Josie to go see Thomas Eckhardt.

"This is the Girl."
