It is with much regret that we must announce that Sherilyn Fenn has had to change her plans to attend the 2010 Twin Peaks Festival. She will be unable to join us this year due to a scheduling conflict. The festival staff is working hard to seek out more celebrity guests and will announce any further updates in the next few weeks. Again, we are sorry to have to break this news to you, but we are so very thankful to still have our other wonderful celebrity guests joining us this year…Kimmy Robertson, Charlotte Stewart, Michael J. Anderson, Jennifer Lynch, Andrea Hayes, and Jan D’Arcy!

Communication breakdown and mistakes happen, too, in a world of possibilities, I suppose something could keep her from the weekend yet again. I'm not excusing the past, at all. Just saying it's a new year and the stars seem to be aligned for it to happen. edit: Well, damn. |
That edit made be laugh so hard I fear I may have ruptured something. I drive Long-Suffering Partner to despair with my horror of tempting fate...

| QUOTE: To be frank, we will never know the honest truth. The first time she backed out, we were told it was due to a last-minute production schedule conflict. The second time, we were given zero explanation; it was just a no-show. If there's a different song being sung now, it's pure news to me. And I'm taking all of it with a very very VERY large grain of salt, chased by a tall tequila-heavy margarita of course. When the festival has been forced to eat $1500 in costs for the same celeb two years in a row, skepticism over any flippant explanation of past behavior is definitely warranted. |
Miss Amanda, you're my hero. That post was such a breath of fresh air.

Just a heads up...
Paula Shimatsu will be at the Fest selling some posters and prints from her collection. BOB, Audrey and a few surprises as well. She will be at the Fest Meet & Greet and Film Night in Seattle. If you are interested, bring a little extra cash, you will not regret it.
Also! Paula will have at least 12 display prints for viewing at the Seattle Art Museum. These have some incredibly rare images of Laura, Donna, Audrey, The Invitation To Love characters, Windom Earle on so on! These posters are totally rare and unique and are only for the SAM showing. Paula will be selling these unique posters on a first come first serve basis!! As soon as you see these prints, please ask Paula and it is yours! Let me repeat, these are one-of-kind!

Jerry, I think I 'get' your marketing strategy but to be honest these rare, limited, one-of-a-kind prints are becoming exhausting. There's no logical reason why they should be limited, besides generating revenue as quickly as possible by forcing a purchase. People have busy lives and don't always have the time (or the inclination) to wait for an email containing a grid reference that will lead to a meeting point where we must use a password to buy a one off print from a mysterious character wearing a red carnation. I personally find the prospect of a continuing series of Paula's prints (even) more exciting than the book(s) and I hope she continues to sell them after the books are released. It seems a bit short sighted to be selling things in such ludicrously short runs. I can afford to buy whatever she makes available unto the public but there was a time I (like a lot of people) would have had to wait for pay day. Surely it would be fairer to the fans and more lucrative for Paula to print small runs of images, put them on the website and let people buy them in their own time? it would also allow people to save on shipping by ordering multiple items. I assumed that was what would happen when the website was set up and Paula said she'd be making sets of prints available. Instead we've had a print set, a poster, a big print, a t-shirt, a big print, some other stuff that's only available to people who attend the festival... You're risking alienating a huge number of fans so that a few people can have something 'numbered'. If you want to be elitist and sell to a few people who can afford to pay a premium to own something 'rare' it would be better to sell through a gallery and at least acquire some elitist credibility. If this is about selling to fans (in the wider sense) you need to be more inclusive.
