After reading the screenplay again for what was supposed to have been the pilot, i wish some of the scenes, and especially much of the dialogue, would have been kept in.

I love how Bobby was supposed to have said "Don't do anything i wouldn't do", as he walks out of the Double R with Shelly, sliding the coin into the jukebox.

I would've also loved to have seen Bobby and Mike awkwardly buying the beer that they are heavily swigging outside the Haywards' place before Mike's macho performance at the front door. For some reason, i think that scene would've been better kept in. Especially with his "Fuel for the party animal" line. That is so Bobby. Particularly in the pilot.

The scene with Donna and "Shorty" before she was instructed to go see Joey would have been nice to see.

There also seems to be a heavy influence on Coopers infactuations with the differently named "Ponderosa Pine" trees surrounding Twin Peaks. Plus, it also documents the manufacturing of his whistle. Hehe.

Has anyone else read it? Do you have things you'd have kept in/taken out?

All the scenes in "Hemingway's" would have been greeeat.

Yes i know it ended up being just "The Roadhouse", but they cut alot of scenes because of that aswell!

Was this line in the pilot?

"My God, Andy. Same thing as last year in Mr.
Blodgett's barn."

Are they referring to Theresa? I never noticed this.

It's in the pilot, but it's just a throwaway line to show that Andy has a propensity for tears -- no connection.

They do use that line in that scene. His says it on his way out the door.

I am glad Isabella Rosselini wasn't Josie.

I stand corrected! Said the man in the orthopedic shoes. I actually mentioned my post to a friend yesterday and he said "I thought he DOES say that!". So yeah, my mistake. I love how the song that he plays (which incidentally, is completely different to the style of song he supposedly puts on in the script) is called that too.

I prefer how they ended up filming the scene with Leland receiving the news of Laura's death too. Him, almost a little too casually, hanging up on Sarah and ringing a neighbour to go round to see her, seemed a little too much of a nod towards him being the naughty one. Plus, the filmed scene of him just dropping the phone seems like something that one would do in genuine shock.

There are so many great little things that i have picked up in the script that i never noticed before; even the images that they wanted between certain scenes of dialogue that aren't there in final cut that you can just picture in your head when you read it. It's amazing stuff.

Oh, and i too am glad that Rosselini wasn't chosen for Josie! Not just that it would be different, but even running certain scenes through my head, it just wouldn't work. At least i don't think anyway.

Oh, I think it would have worked with Isabelle..  Twin Peaks and Ingrid Bergman's offspring -can't combine two more perfect things.  I think anything with the thought and consideration David and Mark gave the pilot and first season would have worked.  Although the first season was then written with knowing Chen was now the part, it still would have retained it with Isabelle.  It just would be different.  What would be different -hmmm, perhaps the engery and dynamic between her and Laurie.  Both have a strength -and would have definitely been a butting of heads.  What might have been a little too wink wink for my liking is the Kyle connection to Blue Velvet though in any of their scenes together.

What is interesting about the script is even in its earliest form, it's still fascinating.

*And since I haven't mentioned Audrey at all in this post -with Fenn's admission that Lynch wrote the part after meeting with her, when was the character inserted?

Hmm, i noticed when reading it that she is only mentioned in two scenes. Once during the infamous registration scene, and again at the Horne dinner table when Sylvia gets frustrated about Johnny. No dialogue at all.
