This could go in off topic-i guess- but i think its pertinent. heh. Anyone got any quirky, creepy stories of wandering around in eerie forests? Especially if they are the forests near where TP was filmed, heh.

Once I was in a car and we were driving through a forest road in the pitch black night.  The lights were on full beam.  Just as we turned the corner we saw the ghostly white face of a white horse, luminous, peering out of the dark.  It creeped us out so much, we thought it was a ghost or something...

The musician Phil Elverum of The Microphones and Mount Eerie grew up in those woods. He still lives in Anacortes,WA and he often mentions TP as part of his inspiration.

The album No Flashlight has the theme of being lost in the woods at night (with no flashlight) and the album Mount Eerie is about being overwhelmed with....everything. The size of the universe, loneliness, etc.

I could talk all day about him. So I won't. Hes my fav musician. But on an early early early song of his called "My Retarded Twin Brother" he harmonizes with himself doing the backwards talking.

his new album "Winds Poem" is, according to him, more relevant to the series, but speaking as someone who has listened to his entire body of work, listening to it specifically bc of a mild mild mild and unnoticable TP inspiration (mainly spooky woods at night), you would be doing yourself a great disservice, and youd miss the whole point.

Listen to it for what it is.

I love how he says that Wind's Poem is his "black metal" album. I can see where his coming from. The atmosphere is really bleak, but ambient. A friend recommended it to me when it came out earlier in the year, and whilst i couldn't get into it as a whole, i enjoyed some tracks on it very much. Including the one with the TP sample(s) in. But sorry, slightly off-topic there....

When we were about 14-15 years old, my friend Seb and I were wondering through a farmer's field just outside of the school field which backed onto our houses at the time (which incidently was fenced off at night unless you lived adjacent to it). It wasn't yet dark, but night was closing in and it was very dusk-like. We walked through the really tall corn until we came to the edge of the woods that we had always wanted to explore. We decided we would and started running in, laughing and shouting to each other. All of a sudden it got very, very smoky; so much that we started looking around for a fire, but there wasn't one anywhere. We would've spotted one easily, what with it being darker by now. Then all of a sudden we heard a buzzing noise that grew louder and louder, and we gave each other a look that carried the impression that both of us had shat ourselves. The buzzing actually started to get unbearably loud. Needless to say, our sprints back to our respective houses would've given Hussain Bolt a run for his money, if you'll pardon the pun.

I still remember that so vividly. I still don't know what the fuck happened. When Seb gets back from France at the end of this month i'll bring it back up to see if he has shed any light on it since.
