It's a bloody good finale, that's for sure. Any unresolved questions you might have?

With the exception of the Beatles on Ed Sullivan, that last half hour of Twin Peaks is the best thing I've ever seen on television.

Whew!  David Lynch and the people who work for him sure know how to create scenarios that haunt the mind.  On the one hand, I wish that there had been a continuation, but on the other, how it ends creates worlds upon worlds in the mind.  It reminds me of the first time I watched MULHOLLAND DR.  Most films have barely any depth.  MULHOLLAND is seemingly infinite in its meanings.

I remember watching the finale when it originally aired and being completely blown away. The next day I kept getting into arguments with people who couldn't see the brilliance of it.

"What? Did your life pass before your eyes? Cuppa tea, cuppa tea, almost got shagged, cuppa tea..."

HawaiianJacoby, what do you think of Inland Empire?

It just came in for me at the library, so I'll be seeing it for the first time in the next few days. I'll post my reactions to it then. :)

David Lynch films I've seen: The Elephant Man, Dune, Blue Velvet, all of Twin Peaks (but not the FWWM film yet), Lost Highway and Mulholland Dr. I'm in the process of seeing all of them.

I'm sure The Straight Story will be a pleasant surprise when you get around to watching it. I can't believe how underrated it is.

My Lynch marathon came to a completion last night with FWWM.  I found that to be a fascinating film with a truly moving and beautiful last scene.  Of course, I wish there had been more TP films and/or television seasons, but I'm very pleased with what was accomplished.

Btw, Inland Empire was interesting to say the least!  I'll no doubt have to view that several times to unpeel its layers.

I've watched IE several times, trust me- it doesnt get anymore coherent!!!

Ben:  "We've laid in a gala reception for your fair-haired boys tonight.  All of Twin Peaks' best and brightest."

Jerry: "We're holding it in a phone booth?"

There's a certain amount of coherence to it but beyond that don't go striving for meaning too much, EMPIRE is my joint favourite film of all time, but you just have to relinquish the notion that every image has meaning beyond Lynch's subconcious. As Freud said 'Sometimes a Phantom standing with a lightbulb in his mouth is just a Phatom standing with a lightbulb in his mouth.'
