Even though she wasn't a big part in the series, Maddy was one of my favorite characters and I felt terrible when she was murdered. For me it gave a new perspective and depth to Laura's murder, especially when Maddy was also found wrapped in plastic. I haven't seen the whole series or Fire Walk With Me yet, but that's my feeling so far. Did anyone else feel the same, or...?

I think I may have cried (I was only about 13 at the time so hard to remember!) but I was sitting with the control in my hand getting ready to quickly change the channel because I was so terrified. My favourite episode of the series by a long way.
I mean it like it is .... like it sounds ...

I did not cry, but I remember (I was like 13 at the time as well) thinking that it was crazy that they let that scene on prime time TV. When I see it now I think the same thing. It might not be the most violent scene on TV, but it is such an evil scene. So much hatred, anger, and overall evilness. I love that episode.

at the risk of sounding like an arse, i thought it was etiquette/policy not to put major spoilers in thread titles?

No, you're completely right. I'm new here, and I probably wasn't considering that at the time when I made the thread. I apologize, and I've edited the title accordingly.

yeah, the maddy death scene was certainly more nightmarish and disturbing than tear inducing for me. but leland's death, with coop leading him through bardo, has gotten me misty eyed a number of times. also, not death related, but the scene in the great northern where leland is dancing his dance of grief and agony and everybody's imitating him(or it could be infered mocking him) and audrey is hiding and watching makes me saddened too.

I think I remember reading at the time that it was the most violent scene ever to be shown on TV. Which I can well believe, to be honest - I still find it difficult to watch now.

I didn't cry while watching Twin Peaks, but I would have liked to, seeing as I'm more emotionally attached to films/shows that make me shed some tears. Look at 24, for instance.

I hate the James/Donna/Maddy dynamic and could have cared less when she bought the farm. As it was, you just KNEW Bob wasn't gonna leave her to live....

I did feel very badly about Maddy. Surprised too, as I figured she would be a regular. Sheryl Lee had a definite presence in both roles. Understandable why David Lynch brought her into more eps.
