I've been reading on here that many people think it was the Log Lady who sent Donna the note that says "LOOK INTO THE MEALS ON WHEELS".

Why is this the popular belief?  Did I miss something?  I know that after Donna reads the note the camera cuts to the Log Lady in a nearby booth, chewing her pitch gum.  But is that the only proof there is that the Log Lady is tied at all to that note?

I awlays thought that Harold Smith sent the letter to the Double R Diner, and that of course he knew Donna's name from his sessions with Laura.  I felt like that was his way of reaching out to someone, now that he would no longer have Laura to live vicariously through...

And how the hell would the Log Lady know anything about Harold Smith or the Meals on Wheels anyway?  Or are we supposed to assume that she was connected to the Tremonds???

Also... how random and gay is it that Harold offers Donna some apple butter when she comes to visit him the first time??

This is the first time I read about people thinking the Log Lady sent the note, I never heard that before... But anyway, I don't see how some people think that since there is actual evidence that Harold sent the note. When Donna first talks with him on the phone she says "I received yours", clearly in reference to the note and that other note Donna left before that phone call in his house.

Ben:  "We've laid in a gala reception for your fair-haired boys tonight.  All of Twin Peaks' best and brightest."

Jerry: "We're holding it in a phone booth?"

I keep saying that one of these years at the festival, I'm going to have like a little portable end table in my hotel room with a tray on top bearing a jar of apple butter and a packet of saltines, plus a bar of soap and a bowl of water. So that whomever comes to my room, I can offer them saltines and apple butter, or perhaps they would like to wash their hands? WIN.

As far as the Meals on Wheels note...I always believed it to be Harold precisely for the reason that Gordon states above. There's no other evidence to the contrary. If there is, well, in the tons of times that I've watched the series, I've never caught on. So. :)

I don't know what apple butter is and I certainly don't offer it to visitors, so not very.

[Fanning eyes with immaculately manicured hands]  I just had a bit of a Gwyneth Paltrow moment there. I shall return the compliment by saying your posts are one of the only reasons I still visit the TPG and if the plane goes down en route to California in September you can have first refusal on my haul of David Lynch tat!
