Is it me or is it implied in Season 1 that maybe Hank had something to do with Laura Palmer? I say this because there's a scene in the RR in which Donna, Maddy and James are talking about Laura and their own investigation, and then it shows Hank in the next booth listening in. Or maybe it's just a tease. Anyway, Hank's character really doesn't go anywhere in the series, when he's first introduced he seems really menacing, but then in season 2 he gets his ass kicked in a matter of minutes and then gets put away under suspicions and for breaking parole.
There was a fiish..iinn the percolatrr!

Hank is actualy one of the few men in Twin Peaks who had nothing to do with Laura.
Ben: "We've laid in a gala reception for your fair-haired boys tonight. All of Twin Peaks' best and brightest." Jerry: "We're holding it in a phone booth?"

They were probably just throwing that possibility out there early on to see if it would stick or in case they wanted to come back to it later. I get the feeling that a lot of that sort of thing was going on.

Hank is one of my favorite characters in the whole show. The thing he had to do with Laura? He was in control of the cocaine trade with Leo, right. So, in his round-about way he was supplying her. But I like the fact that Hank is simultaneously ignorant and sly. I wish his klepto thing had turned up more in the series. Who knows what he accidentally would have stolen from the diner. -cg
