Don't think they are available in PDF form.  But then again, what the heck do I know?

It took me forever, but I got all 75 issues via the WIP site and Ebay.

Welcome to this lovely and ultrafriendly board.

LOL You never had to send me money. :) Then again, I never finished scanning all of them in for you. So we're even. lol It's a pain in the ass...I've only managed to get like the first 10 done. Am hoping to one day get the rest done. It takes anywhere from 30-45 minutes to scan each issue in, and then another 30-60 minutes of post-production work per issue. It would probably be less painful if I were willing to unstaple every issue and use a giant flatbed scanner, but I'm not. Most issues are out of print now and I'm sure as hell not going to thrash them anymore than they've already been thrashed (in fact, I may opt out of bringing the collection to the fest after this year because it's not worth risking fans damaging or stealing them).

So for now...it's just slow and steady...

Thats Cool. I'd be willing to donate some money to you as an incentive.

Just been watching the show and buying merchandise but don't have the funds to  buy the entire collection as it would take to long.

Just out of intrest where are the ones you have scanned?

On my computer. I have no intention of putting them online anywhere since it's entirely copyrighted material. Which is why I would never accept money for them either.

They are not as cool as they look.

Rarely there was a good article in the beginning, then more and more rare, then you were lucky to find anything Twin Peaks-related in the X-Files updates.

The coolest part were usually the back cover photographs.

The place where I get my comics occasionally has a random, dog-eared issue laying around for cheap. I always figured I was just finding the lame ones.

12rainbow, I read your letter in WIP 49 (Log Lady on cover) about TP/Evil Dead 2 connections.  Good job.

*claps politely*

Thanks? I wrote it really fast. Just shows how desperate they were for stuff to print.

I guess WIP is a comfort when you don't have other people to talk about TP with. The theories aren't especially advanced...

The interviews are okay. I really wanted to like the script-to-screen analyses, but they were too dry and fanboysih. Analyzing syntax change was really unnecessary. Much more fun to browse the glastonberrygrove/texts.

I noticed recently if you look at the letters sections of different issues, it's the same 3 or 4 people writing in to the zine at short story length.

Jeez, am I the only person who liked the zine? I thought it provided some of the best analyses of Lynch's work I've ever read.

It was better than nothing, for sure. Would you agree that it started reaching for material toward the end, Robin?

Can't say that I noticed. Most of the articles were interesting even if I didn't agree with their particular interpretations. And there were lots of interviews, including five in the last issue.

I'd say those five interviews in the last issue are one of the best examples of what 12rainbow described as 'reaching for material'. I could hardly hear myself think over the sound of the barrel being scraped. Wrapped In Plastic was obliged to ask about other projects, at which point I nearly always lost interest, but by that point it was verging on 'What's your favourite colour?' and 'What's your starsign?'. Admittedly the celeb thing has never really appealed to me. The one exception is Sheryl Lee because 1) I like her acting 2) I'd defend her honour to the grave for making FWWM when everyone else was running around having hissy fits and bleating about being typecast and 3) she always makes me laugh in DVD documentaries. But I digress.

When Wrapped In Plastic began it was really the only outlet for information about Twin Peaks and David Lynch. They published some brilliant interviews and essays and it's easy to forget how rare some of the stills were at the time, particularly outside the US. I just think the world's moved on. Nowadays people can discuss Twin Peaks on messageboards (in colour nonetheless) and 'fans' have direct access to news and marketing sans third parties. The internet had as much to do with the demise of Wrapped In Plastic as lack of new material.

It's always struck me as funny how nobody picked up on the fact that the last issue was called the 'hiatus' issue. If I remember correctly ABC effectively used 'hiatus' as a euphemism for 'cancelled'. Maybe the irony was unintentional.

for the record, it would take a small fortune for me to do what you're doing, at any pace. hand-scanning books and magazines always makes my sac twitch when i'm forced to do it at the office

I've actually considered paying a starving college student to do my scanning for me. It would be well worth the cash. $1000 in exchange for digital archives? Yes please! (though I'm sure by about the 20th issue, the kid would come back and be like "Dude, we need to renegotiate terms...")

I do think WIP over the years has been hit-or-miss on its articles and other content, but realistically, there are only 29 episodes + pilot + film of Twin Peaks. So source material is very limited in scope anyhow. It makes sense that WIP would pack up shop and head out of town for good. There is literally nothing else they can talk about that we haven't already heard. Which is why the older TP fans tend to get a little cranky in the TP/FWWM forum here. You can only discuss that damn blue rose so many times before you feel like your anus is prolapsing.

Six Of One have been analysing 17 episodes of The Prisoner for over 30 years! I'm not sure how many members have stayed that long though...

Doesn't mean they've had anything new, pertinent, ground-breaking, or even interesting to say. It just means there's a group of folks who feel like they need to talk about it. A lot. For 30 years. My guess is that it has sustained for 30 years due to regular influxes of new fans. The same way Twin Peaks has managed to support multiple fan message boards and websites over the course of 19 years. But let's face it. It's rare that anyone shows up to the table these days and gives us anything to chew on that is actually fresh, original, unheard of, and not completely ridiculous. WIP had exhausted itself and bowed out at an appropriate time. I'd hate to see what it would have become had it dared to hang on for 30 years. Yikes.

I've viewed this decision from every possible angle and have chosen to smoke my WIP magazines (all 75 of them) starting with the rare SOLD OUT ones first.

I can say this: each and every mag had at least one tiny nugget of interesting info in it. but those nuggets are much more economical to deliver in blog format, re Twin Peaks Archive and Dugpa.

Twitching sacs and prolapsed rectums? The perils of fandom!
