On the morning of 9/11, my grandmother, who died in the late 90s (and in her early 90s), interrupted a dream I was having to tell me I needed to wake up because something bad was happening that I needed to pay attention to. It's only because of this that I was watching the live television coverage before and when the second plane hit. If someone told me this story I'm not certain I would believe them, but it is what happened to me, and it's the strongest of the five personal events I've had that make me consider the possibility of something "else" existing.

I don't have one of my own, but my parents and older brother tell me that before I was born they lived in a house where they would periodically hear the sound of someone whistling in the hallways upstairs, and one time they could hear someone crying from the basement. *shivers*

Wasn't there weird stuff around the Poltergeist movies? Was LFB in one of them? Also, wasn't there a ghost in a frame of Three Men and a Baby? I would love to see a pic.

There was a lot of weird stuff around Poltergeist. This was my favorite movie when I was a wee child. I had/have a very warped mind...and it scared the piss out of my sister, which gave me pleasure. Here's a list of all that happened with the movie. Most noteably, the girl who played Carol Ann died mid production:
The Poltergeist curse "The Poltergeist curse" is the rumor of a supposed curse attached to the Poltergeist motion picture series and its stars. The rumor is superstition largely derived from the fact that four cast members died in a relatively short span of time (six years) between the release of the first film and the release of the third, with one dying during production of the second film. Two of them died at young ages, 12 and 22. It is not clear that these particular films are atypical in the number or nature of the deaths of their actors, and at least two of the supposed victims had serious health problems before becoming attached to the film series. The actors who are supposed victims of the curse include: - Dominique Dunne, 22-year-old actress who played the oldest sibling Dana in the first movie, died after being choked by a jealous boyfriend in 1982.[12] The boyfriend, John Thomas Sweeney, was later convicted and sentenced to six years in prison, though he only served three and a half years.[13]
- Julian Beck, 60-year-old actor who played Kane in Poltergeist II: The Other Side, died in 1985 of stomach cancer, with which he was diagnosed before he had accepted the role.[14]
- Will Sampson, 53 years old, who played Taylor the Medicine Man in Poltergeist II, died of post-operative kidney failure and pre-operativemalnutrition problems in 1987.[15]
- Heather O'Rourke, actress who played Carol Anne in all three Poltergeist movies, died in 1988 at the age of 12 after what doctors initially described as an acute form of influenza but later changed to septic shock after bacterial toxins invaded her bloodstream.[16] At the time, she had suffered acute bowel obstruction, initially diagnosed as Crohn's disease, which may have been the cause of death.
Other occurrences that have been attributed to the curse include: - The house in Simi Valley, California used for exterior shots of the Freeling home was damaged by the Northridge earthquake of 1994.[citation needed]
- JoBeth Williams, who played mother Diane Freeling, claims she returned home from the set each day to find pictures on her wall askew. She would straighten them, only to find them crooked again the next day.[citation needed]
- Actor Will Sampson, a Creek Indian and shaman, performed an exorcism on the set of Poltergeist II to rid it of "alien spirits".[citation needed]A year after Poltergeist II was released, he died.
- During a photography session for Poltergeist III, it was discovered that one shot of co-star Zelda Rubenstein had shining light obstructing the view of her face. Rubenstein claims the photo was taken at the moment the actress's mother died.[citation needed]
- During the making of Poltergeist III, a movie set of a parking garage was destroyed by fire during shooting of a fire scene, injuring all but one of the crew.[citation needed]
- Brian Gibson, director of Poltergeist II, died of bone cancer at the age of 59 in 2004.
- Another Cast Member Susan Peretz died of breast cancer in 2004 aged 64
- Heather O'Rourke once starred in a Rainbow Brite commercial with Judith Barsi. Judith died at age 10, five months and 24 days after Heather died. She was murdered along with her mother by her father.
The Poltergeist series is just one of a handful of movies and TV series that have been said to have been cursed. Others include Rebel Without a Cause, The Omen, The Exorcist, Diff'rent Strokes, Seinfeld, Bewitched, Saturday Night Live, The Crow, the In the Heat of the Night TV series,Twilight Zone: The Movie, Our Gang, and various Superman-related series and films. LFB was in at least one of them. She was the cousin whose dad owned the hotel.
As for 3 men and a baby, it was a cardboard cutout behind a curtin...

I dreamed that the space shuttle exploded in, what, 1986? That was easily explained by the fact that the TV was on and reporting on it at the time. My dream of Regan getting shot, which took place a couple days before the actual events, is harder to explain. It can't be my proclivities because I was much less radical in those days and I've never advocated assassination as a political tool. But really John, a .22? How are we supposed to take you seriously if you use a .22?
It is my belief that I have edited a fair number of similar events out of my conscious memory because they didn't fit with the materialist world view I held for a good portion of my life. I'm a little more open in my beliefs at this point in time.

Here is an encounter I had with an angel. I was just hired at a new job and I felt like I should not go to work. I could not shake this feeling. I wanted to go into work though, because it would be my first day. So, I went to work. I hated the job. I would pack bags in a factory. I offered to give a guy a ride home after work. I dropped him off at his house. I then ran a stop sign. A car hit me on the side and then I bounced off of a telephone pole and spun around. The car hit me again. When this happened I felt a presence fill my car and it felt good. I then felt some strong arms wrap around my body. The arms held me tight to keep me from any damage. After the accident, the cops were amazed that I was not dead or at least hurt. But I got out of the car with only a bruise on my thigh. The cops thought I should have died because the damage was so bad on the driver's side of the car. I never went back to work at that job.

My brother Vincent died suddenly of a heart attack at the young age of 39. He was my big brother and I liked to "mess" with him. If i walked up behind him i would run my fingers up the back of his very short hair...man he hated that! I would also put my hand on his shoulder when we were next to each other...i think he liked that! After his death, for a long time i would feel like someone is touching the back of my hair...and sometimes felt a tap on my shoulder. I believe it was his way of "messing" with me and saying "it's ok".

I have to give a thumbs up to this interesting thread, the personal experiences and that Poltergeist thing is interesting. Trying to think of any weird stuff-ghosts or whatever, but nothing comes to mind. An open door, seemingly impossibly found shut on a unique occasion-but that's it.

My Gran told me about this kid who stays with his gran down the street where she lives. He said "That old man keeps bothering me". An old guy used to live in that house and he was a dick.

One night i was sleeping in my fathers living room. He was next door. I couldnt sleep but as i had my eyes open slightly i saw a flash of light that covered my entire vision i was aware of this and opened my eyes and it happened again. I then felt a presence and a hand on my mouth and my teeth felt numb. I stood up and opened the door i did'nt put the light on i just got out of the room. I went into the bathroom and was terrified of looking in the mirror in case i saw a face other than mines. When i looked in my face was chalk white. i stayed up all night in a seperate room and i just put it down to my imagination bu at the time it scared the fuck out of me.
