They've been through the entire Los Angeles area since 2007 but are now shooting everything in sight in the UK. I know there's a screenplay in this somewhere. Or an alibi. Or....?

The powers that be in the UK probably think that a car that surveils is the best thing. Then again they seem to think that 1984 is a book of good ideas.

I was pretty amazed when one of my coworkers showed me streetview for Hudson, Wyoming (town of about 500 near where some of our work)... The tinfoil hat in me does wonder whether Google is really run by the NSA...

It's freaking eerie, but totally legal and nifty. I can tour places I'll never be. I've pick random streets in foreign countries and "walked" down them, looking at homes and storefronts to experiment with the feature. I can also plan trips, landmarks to look for. etc etc. So great.

I do the same thing, Angel. :) It's a lot of fun actually. I did actually see one of the street view cars when they were roaming our town here, but I don't know when my specific neighborhood was photographed, but I have an idea of the general timeframe. Wish i'd known when they were doing my house. I would've stood on the lawn with my Twin Peaks Town Hall sign. :D

I've been checking out the homes of everyone who sent me a Christmas card! Lotsa fun!!! There are some private roads and developments that the Google cars can't access. Still, I think there are many ways for this new technology to go awry. I only wish our garage had been closed that day or that the car came by in the spring when the flowers looked better. Susan

I got lucky with mine. They came through like a week after I got my house painted and my landscaping cleaned up. So the place looks incredibly manicured. Well, except for the fact that I hadn't put my garbage cans on the side of the house yet after garbage pickup that week, so that looks kind of ridiculous. Oh well.

My folks got lucky, too. The shot of the house is obscured completely by a crabapple tree.

"You can't help me! No one can help me! I've tried sounding my horn! I scream out the window! I roll the window down and bang on the side of the door and play Public Enemy real loud. I have prayed to St Francis of Assisi, St. Christopher, too. What the heck I've tried everything a person can do. And still, every week, I plow into at least one deer. I have hit 13 deer in 7 weeks driving down this road, mister. And I have to drive down this road every day, 40 miles back and forth to work. I have to drive to work and I have to drive home. Where do they come from? He's dead! And I love deer!"
