This thread's starting to give me the heebie jeebies. Regardless of La Fenn's shortcomings in the real world she gave the world Audrey Horne and you have to love her for that, even if she is a tax evading, fest  dodging vixen (allegedly).

... and Helena, when Vicki Vale and the Material Girl didn't want it.  That's good enough for me.

We don't wish her death, or hate her, we just think she could have given some kind of notice at least a day before the Festival, both times, and not used the word "promise" for all to hear.   We might forgive, but she will never, ever, ever be invited to a Festival again.   And she especially wouldn't be offered a stipend for appearing- no one else ever has been. That would be like rewarding her for screwing up before.

Sherilyn looks incredibly amazing in all her glorious nakedness in TWO MOON JUNCTION, which I happened to see yesterday... I had mixed feelings with the film, too corny and too 80s at times, but it had a couple of good scenes and a couple of really good and semi-Lynchian characters, like those redneck guys who don't want buried dogs in their property and you can't tell which one is the father and who the son...

Ms. Fenn as a blonde isn't really my cup of tea, but she was really something nude...taxes problems or not...

It's a shame about the Festivals. As a sign of solidarity I promise to drive La Fenn away from our house with rocks should she attempt to drop in for a cup of tea (and no doubt charge me for the honour). You'd think she'd be happy to spend time around people who appreciate her 'work' considering her career post Twin Peaks has been... I don't know how to finish that sentence.

Do those two even have an "acting" career anymore? Other than as the leads in a The Dark Crystal remake, I mean.

The Olsen twins don't need to act ever agin. They make millions per year just from their business ventures. And I mean, like lots of millions.

I wish all of the actors from Twin Peaks who are still around would post on here.

"Harry, I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Every day, once a day, give yourself a present. Don't plan it, don't wait for it, just let it happen. Could be a new shirt at the men's store, a catnap in your office chair, or two cups of good, hot, black coffee. Like this."  -Dale Cooper

Yeah, well, so did Michael Jackson.  Have millions I mean.

Imagine you used to be a cook or waiter at a popular restaurant that closed 20 years ago and people who used to eat at that restaurant formed a message board to remember the food and the atmosphere. Would you post there?

depends on whether or not i could wring anything i want out of them, such a ego-stroking or money

though it would be awesome if one of them was just a really big fan. like chris mulkey wanted to get into a heated debate over the nature of the jumping man in FWWM. that would be pretty amazing

The problem with messageboards is there's so much spite, it can be disconcerting for 'normal' people let alone demi-gods of the early nineties. You only have to write the words Lara Flynn Boyle to turn even the most zen thread into a hideous snakepit. I find the combination of anonymity and vitriol a bit creepy... If some of the things that get written on messageboards were actually sent to the 'celebrity' in question you can guarantee the author would be dragged out of their house in a dawn raid and probably appear on the cover of National Enquirer.

In the words of Vic Chestnutt "all the little loonies with a salient obsession come out from the boonies with their sharpies and their guns loaded with questions". That in a nutshell is why thespians such as La Fenn don't post on 'fan' messageboards.

Which reminds me, did anybody ever visit Julee Cruise's messageboard? She stopped posting after suffering an online meltdown of Mariah-Carey-esque proportions. She referred to somebody as a 'dyke' which really offended me but I felt sorry for her and found myself hoping there was somebody with a big net saying "Ms Cruise, step away from the computer"...

The paradox being the dark side is also the beauty of free speech and press. Journalists, tabloid or not, are as creepy as - and far more insidious than- message board posters, and are only slightly more ethical because they are held more accountable for what they say.

Message board posters and bloggers are the bottom feeders of the free press and exist to knock down celebrities off their pedestals and give them free publicity. There's mostly tacky shit-slinging and speculation, but there's truth, too, that isn't going to wait to be published elsewhere.

And really, who is going to cover Sherilyn Fenn but us unless she starts banging someone more famous? *zing!*

edit: Billy Zane just barely managed to do this for a few years, and HE was in the highest grossing movie of all time.

Precisely. Fenn didn't have much of a chance. (And her body of work is less impressive than Zane's, and that's not saying a whole lot.) She should've worked it out with Johnny Depp.
