I'm a new... "fan" of the show. I have that in quotes because I just got the box set and have only watched the pilot so far. About 3/4 of the way through the pilot episode, the disc starts skipping. I thought it just might have been a hiccup in my DVD player, but I rewinded it and played that part again and it skips every time. I played the rest of the pilot and pulled the disc out and looked on the back thinking there may be dirt on it. No, no dirt... but quite prominent scratches circling the whole disc! I looked at the rest of the discs, and some of those have gouges/scratches as well. The thing that sucks is I live in a very rural area... I should have bought it from Amazon like I do everything else, but we were in this town quite far away, and they had them there in stock, so I paid my 80 bucks and bought it there. I called and complained... in my opinion when something like this happens if you live that far away, you should be able to send it in and have them send you a new one, but they wouldn't do it.

Now I have 2 options:

1. Use 30 bucks and 3 hours of my time to drive it back there and exchange it. And this may not work because they only had 2 sets when I was there.

2. The store (Best Buy) said to return it to the manufacturer. I dunno... this seems like it could take MONTHS going that route.

And I hear some other people had scratch problems too, so would taking it back really accomplish anything? I'm sure if it's a manufacturing problem, the other set they have has scratched discs as well.

80 bucks? You could probably get two region 2 sets for that price.

A cordial business letter to the manufacturer might lead to a speedy replacement. What else can you do, really?

Your handle means "naked," huh? ;)

I went through *four* exchanges of the Gold Box before I got a set without scratches.  The discs come in contact with the plastic pages, and if they're slightly loose and spin during shipment, then you end up with circular scratches.  It's a bad design for an otherwise perfect box set.
