Lumiere & Co. (1995) is a collection of forty one-minute shorts made to commemorate the Centennial of the Lumiere Brothers' first "motion picture". Each director used the restored original Lumiere camera to film their short, preceded and followed by a short interview.  Lynch's minute crams in a murder, three Victorian women on a bed in a garden with a deer sitting nearby, and five space aliens circling a life-size tank of water with a naked, bound woman floating inside while one of the aliens whips the tank.  A great Lynch minute!

Other directors include Wim Wenders, Zhang Yimou, John Boorman, Spike Lee, Costa-Gavras, Peter Greenaway, Lasse Hallstrom, Michael Haneke.

This title is harder to get a hold of than a few years ago, but a youtube search yields some highlights.

Right you are. The Lynch 52 seconds is here:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2zZ7X-MoeCM

I was lucky to find this DVD at my favorite used CD/DVD store for 8 bucks.  On Amazon the cheapest used is $30-something.  Not worth that, as the collection is uneven.  Lynch is definitely the stand out.  But there are many beautiful images here.  I especially enjoyed entries by

Helma Sanders http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QD30uPd9ECo    and

Andrei Konchalovsky. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y-yiUT-UGxI&feature=related
