So I was wondering why I should even continue watching the show, because It felt like I watched the conclusion of a thriller, or a series finale. I liked the gum reference by the old man and most of all Laura whispering the killer's identity. I think that scene would have had more of an impact if we as an audience did not know who the killer was two episodes before. The reference to "the owls are not what they seem," Is just a way of saying people in general are not what they seem. Just an opinion. All people have secrets, which every character on the show has. I wanna keep watching because I still have not located the scene which horrified me whan I was 9 years old. Is it worth the watch from here on out?

you're in for a whole lot of poo with a few bright spots, followed by an astoundingly good series finale. not to mention a shot at "getting" the movie
unless you're really busy i'd say go for it

Iwill finish it, I was prepared that the killer would be resolved somewhere in the middle of season 2, and that the show went downhill from there, because I read posts in here. BTW does anyone know of link which describes what they were going to do in the show if it survived season 2, like a producer or director speaking about it?

the guide to the town hints at plans for a large prison being built in town, i've heard that was potentially a 3rd season plot thread. i've also heard they were going to move the whole thing forward ten years.

The first time I watched those episodes after episode 16 I actually still enjoyed them a lot. It was only after going on here and seeing the reputation of these episodes that I rewatched them and found them to really drag. Maybe I was looking for the decline in quality or maybe those episodes just don't stand up to rewatching. It's just hard for me to understand how I could not notice how terrible some of those plotlines were. Here is a good thread on this subject: http://www.2000revue.com/community/topic.cfm?topicid=4035

Oddly enough, the people whom i've forced into getting into twin peaks-like introducing people to heroin- have responded just as well to the 'mid season' episodes as any of the season 1 episodes; i think that at times those of us to stalk the message boards suck up the ill will toward the mid season 2 episodes and impose it upon our viewing of them. true, they do dip in quality, but hey, twin peaks is still great hehe.

Should you continue watching the show? What kind of question is that? I mean, would you really just stop watching because some people online said it goes downhill? Most of the people who talk about how bad the second season is, are doing it in retrospect, having watched the series many times over. When the show initially aried, we were all just happy with what we got, even if things slowed down and veered in a different direction. :) Without a doubt, continue watching!

i definitely kept watching straight through my first couple times and honestly the only stuff that annoyed me was the usual pitfalls-- james's wacky adventures and little nicky i think the reason people get so frustrated with the middle of season two is that their second time around they know there is some sweet sweet candy at the end of the season and waiting for it is difficult. :)

There are some surprises in the latter half of s2, such as Windom Earle not actually tying one of the TP damsels to the traintracks.

Also Earle doesn't go speak with Cooper wearing just a thick bushy mustache so he won't recognize him.

someday i will get john simm and kenneth welsh in the same room, and smack them on the nose until they understand that moustache-twirling supervillainy is boring and terrible and they need to not pee pee on my favorite shows
then i'll probably force them to eat glass at gunpoint or something but not until after they understand what they did wrong

Wow, tough room. The only reason I could see for not finishing is if you really can't handle unresolved cliff hangers. The second season is fun, bad acting, silly plot twists and all, at least it was for me the first few times through. Now I suffer from not being able to bring myself to fast forward through all the stuff that is wearing thin but that is my problem. Ya'll festers should really do a service to the larger community and record a MST3K style track to go along with the more tedious parts of the second season one of these years. It could be another feature for the super deluxe Platinum TP/FWWM set complete with deleted scenes (some, not all) and other extra stuff that will be coming out in five to ten years in whatever is the 'it' format at that time.

well I watched17&18 last night and it was alright. The things that bother me are the same characters i did not like for a while. James- is a complete puss, and might be retarded Ned's wife- she is a complete whack job and its embarrissing to watch her Leo- is kick ass and I wish he would wake from his coma, because that guy is raw, and takes spousal abuse to a whole new level. I mean what did they tell the actor when the season began? Look straight and don't move in a wheel chair?
Oh yeah I just saw Duchovny in drag which was strange.

Waking Ned Devine?
Eric Da Re's acting was better when he was in a coma than when he was functional.

Trivia for Waking Ned (1998) - There is a man with the first name David and a woman with the last name Lynch in the cast of this movie.

Earle never got to unleash his dynamite from ACME company.

Awww, come on... Kenneth Welsh started Earle out perfectly fine. They wrote him a scene in a horse costume, for god's sake -- for a major plot thread, a lot of that writing was pretty atrocious. To paraphrase Cooper, I commend him on not going full Snidely a couple of episodes sooner than he did.

I know this may be wrong but when I think of a man who possesses others and kills women I keep wishing Bob looked like O.J. Simpson. If they ever do a remake they should get someone that resembles O.J.

I would just keep on remembering him fooling around with Leslie Nielsen.
But that is a strange desire. There are few good reasons to remake TP, and making BOB more OJ is not one of them!

Ok so let me get this right, if some network or production company wanted to do something with the twin peaks universe they have to get the ok from Lynch and Frost right? Could one of them go rogue if they wanted to do something? Oh yeah I was just joking about the OJ thing, and what would be one of the few reasons to bring it back?

the onyl way i'd want to see TP back on the air is either a battlestar galactica-esque re-imagining (not necessarily involving any of the original creative team), or a direct sequel/prequel with lynch/frost involvement. i still think that the only real continuation should be a novel penned by lynch/frost, mostly because the novel is the only artform i can think of that lynch hasn't even tried. don't be a sissy, david, write a book!
